Hello Wrestling Fans!
I used to run The Wrestling Wrap Up site which covered all things professional wrestling. I would do show wrap ups, wrestling history posts, rumors and prediction posts, pay-per-view previews and much more. One of the best performing posts was simply a list of all the wrestlers who died throughout the year with info about each one of them. Lots of people loved it. I do plan to bring it back at some point.
For this reworking of The Wrestling Wrap Up I will be posting every Wednesday with a review of the past week in wrestling. Generally the main shows that I was are Raw, Smackdown, TNA Impact, and ROH TV. I have wanted to start watching NXT regularly for quite some time, what better time to start than now? Not sure I can bring myself to regularly watch 205 Live! though. I also watch all WWE pay-per-views, but just haven't bothered watching the few that TNA still has.
A little bit of my history as a wrestling fan - I have been a life-long fan. I believe my first memory was from when I was around eleven years old and watching the weekly Saturday 11PM WWF show on WWOR-TV 9 out of Secaucus, New Jersey. The first wrestler I have a memory of seeing on that show was Jimmy Superfly Snuka. Perhaps that is my first memory because he was one of my favorites, or maybe it was he was one of my favorites because he was the first one I saw. I may never know. Of course Snuka solidified himself in my heart as one of my favorites that day at Madison Square Garden where he leaped from the top of the fifteen foot high steel cage down onto Magnificent Don Muraco, and it was even after he had lost the match that he put his body on the line like that! It was a day I was extremely happy we had cable television.
Here is video of that match. I have it set to start as Snuka enters the arena for the start of the match. If you'd like all the pre-match hype and interviews just go back to the start of the video.
I have traveled to the Mecca (WrestleMania) of professional wrestling one time. It was to see Wrestlemania IV in Atlantic City, New Jersey. My one brother took me and my niece to see it. What an amazing experience that was. There really weren't any bad or "nosebleed" seats, and we sat about one section over from where Jesse "The Body" Ventura and Gorilla Monsoon called the matches from. At that time of course they were in the upper level of the arena and not ringside. It was of course an awesome show. I got to see Randy Macho Man Savage win the championship tournament and The Mega Powers celebration that followed. I think one of the true highlights of the show for me though was the 20-Man Battle Royale for a trophy. This match saw Bret Hart's turn to fan favorite begin as he lost the match but destroyed the trophy and took out Bad News Brown who had just double-crossed him for the win.
If it is the only WerstleMania I ever see live I think I could be happy with that.
I have watched wrestling for nearly four decades across many companies and will love being able to share some of my memories as well as new news, results, and everything else.
If you are a wrestling fan please comment so I can get a feel for how big an audience these posts will have.
Note: I will be adding TheWrestlingWrapUp as both a hashtag in the post, and a tag on the post itself to make them easier to find in the future.
