An important part of any introduction is to consider your audience. Who exactly are you introducing yourself to?
What will they find interesting and compelling? What can you share that might help to quickly build common ground and help you make a connection? In some formal situations, this might not be as appropriate, but most of the time you can write something unequivocally positive about yourself but not too personal, like this:
The best thing that happened to you today or other variations, might be the matter made you laugh the most today. This works well because it's positive. Even if the person had a bad day, they will start to think about your special day which usually challenges their perspective.
And then it cuts through the small talk, his or her own story, But it's also not too personal - they can give a casual answer or go deep, as they like.
