David sins by Temptation of Evil

In 2 Samuel Chapter 24 we find that Jehovah is angry with the people of Israel because of David.  

But in reality, this verse says: He incited David against them. " Many logically believe that the implied subject of the phrase "incited" refers to God. However, the parallel account of Chronicles explains: "But Satan rose up against Israel, and incited David to make a census of Israel" (1 Chronicles 21: 1). So Satan tempted David and he did not resist the urge to disobey God. And from now on the wrath of God is unleashed against the people of Israel but because of their king but not of the people themselves, leaving us also a great lesson in terms of the power that a regent of a people has and the consequences of their acts can be decisive for their governed.  

When the army general, Joab, questioned David about the census, he never mentioned that God ordered him to do it. David only told Joab to carry out his orders. What was wrong with taking a census?  

There could only be two reasons to take a census:

1) Evaluate the implementation of a tax on the population  

2) Prepare an army.   

God forbade David to implement taxes, and only God could command his people to wage war. 

In addition, the explanation can be supplemented by saying that taking a census showed a moment of weakness in David's faith, because he tried to prove the physical evidence of his national strength instead of depending on God, protector of his people.  

But once having reflected on David's lack, and giving Jehovah three options to choose, he nonetheless chooses to fall into the hands of GOD, having lacked even so he decides to fall into the hands of God, because even so David trusted in the love that God feels for his children. 

Go and say to David, Thus says the LORD: I offer you three things; you will choose one of them, for me to do it. Then Gad came to David, and told him, and said to him, "Do you want seven years of famine to come to your land? Or that you flee three months in front of your enemies and that they persecute you? Or that three days there is plague in your land? Think now, and see what I will answer to the one who sent me. Then David said to Gad, "I am in great distress; Let us now fall into the hand of the Lord, because his mercies are many, but I do not fall into the hands of men.                      2 Samuel 24: 12-14 .

Then such was the compassion and mercy of Jehovah for David and his people that he calmed his anger, but not before the king assumed his guilt and implored the angel to punish him and his people, because they had not committed any fault.

And David said unto the Lord, when he saw the angel that destroyed the people: I have sinned, I have done wickedly; What did these sheep do? I pray that your hand turns against me, and against my father's house. 

Despite the sin committed by David and the fault committed before Jehovah, God was merciful and this leaves us with great lessons and one is that God will never stop loving us and another is that the responsibility of a leader, president or ruler is directly related to the lives of their leaders and it is important that every governor keep the commands of the Lord and always be fearful of their actions.
