But can't they earn money in prison too? By making numberplates you often hear. But probably it doesn't pay much...

    Some can get a small job but not everybody. Like cleaning showers etc. There are not enough jobs for everyone and there are also prisoners who are not allowed to work, work for free. I doubt making licenseplates etc and/or other small"factory" work is done in prison. Even with a job the income is very low like 1-2 bucks
