I'm really depressed and there are other people talking here, so I'm trying to stay busy.
Woot woot!
Sorry guys, I know I mention being depressed a lot (especially today) but I don't know. I don't really have any folks in my own, nuclear life, that I feel like understand. And yeah, I don't know if any of you understand either, but it helps to get it out there, so thanks for being my, like, receptacle. Eww. I don't like that word. Nevermind.
Okay.
Write Club.
Let's get this started.
Write Club Stuff!
Alright, cool. This will mark (or yesterday marked) the beginning of our sixth session, which means we only have three left! (A grand total of six weeks.) It's getting crazy around here, let me tell you.
So, @johnkingwriter just dropped the sixth prompt and, eloquently, he states that "Your MC must intimidate or be intimidated by another character, either human or animal. Hell, alien or ogre works too." In case you want to read more about it, I'll leave his post here.
The story he used to base his prompt off of is called "The Dog" and it involves this woman who, everyday, walks past this dog that barks at her and hates her for no reason. So that's the intimidation part. It's a short read and I recommend it because, darnit, it's pretty good.
Okay, What All Has Went On in Write Club Recently?
Well dang, I didn't want this post to go that direction, but since you asked, we finished up re-reading each other's stories recently for the fifth prompt and they all promptly put me to shame. I mean, dang. There isn't a single story in the lineup that I can say was meh. They were all entertaining, mind-blowing, bloody and fun! I do hope you all get to read them someday. In the unlikely case that anything I write gets published, I'll link the publications for you guys so you can peep them. Hopefully, the others will do the same (or similar?)
We've lost quite a few people. We started with eight, and we are now down to five. I can't say it hasn't been hard; I miss every single one of the folks who have left. And it really sucks, because I got exclusive content from these homies, yo. Like, darnit. I also miss talking to them on Discord, which is a depressing truth I'm going to have to face. So, if y'all are on Discord, hit me up. I need someone to talk to near constantly, and would love to hear from you.
Write Club is not easy. It's a juggling act and it pushes you to your limits as a fictioneer, but darnit, if you love it, you'll thrive in it. As we draw a little closer to the end of this round, I encourage you to explore the Writer's Block on Discord and see if you are a fit for the next Write Club rounds that are coming up. If you do join Write Club, let me know, so I can read your posts that you must (teehee) write on Steemit. I want to follow all of your journeys, seeing that you've followed mine. Here's an invitation to the Writer's Block. Come talk to me about it.
Alright, New Round, New You. What's the Game Plan?
Okay, so I used to love a show called Destination: Truth, where you had this guy named Josh Gates and his crew travel around the world, eat crazy stuff, and check out monster/paranormal activity in order to debunk myths. Like all of those shows, you never get any definitive evidence, but Josh Gates was funny, and I binged it back in middle school.
Recently, my brother got me watching Buzzfeed Unsolved (I believe that's how it goes). It's so much fun to watch these guys get freaked out by, like, wind, but it's also neat to hear the history on different haunted sites that they go to.
See, my brother is super into the paranormal, mainly demons and spirits and Christian-based evil stuff. To him, proof of a devil is proof of God, which makes sense. He digs exorcism movies and makes me watch some (though I try to avoid it. Let me have Evil Dead 2 and Brain Dead and I'll be good :P). So his love for that, my love for Josh Gates, and the new fun I've had with Buzzfeed made me start stewing on a paranormal investigator short story.
And then a prompt about intimidation.
Heck yes.
The main idea I was juggling with came to me from one episode of Buzzfeed, where they're talking about how people would "Have violent thoughts of" or "React violently" near the bridge they are investigating. I liked the idea that either a) The "spirit" awakened those thoughts or b) They used the 'evil' as an excuse to lose their fishsticks on their crew members. Like, if you claim "I was possessed" after smacking your Professor who's been talking crap about the tenor section for ten straight rehearsals, then yeah, maybe it'll go over better. Probably not. I don't know. I don't smack people very often. I should though.
So yeah. Violence. Exorcisms. Demons. Cameras and EMF meters.
Get ready folks.
This one's gonna get paranormal.

Thanks for reading! Your support is amazing and I love you! God bless <3
Great write-up, @caleblailmusik. I love your stream-of-consciousness writing style and sense of humor. The depression is of course not okay by me, and I wish it would just cut it out already. But I have been there (at your age, actually), and I know how awful it is and that it can’t just be fixed like a cold or a broken ankle. But I’m so glad you just go ahead and put it out there and know your Steemit friends won’t run away, and that it’s soooo much better to be real than to do the cover-it-up thing most people do. Talking about it means people are in a better position to be supportive. ❤️
