lagos time and gold coast colony advertiser was established in november 1880 by richard beale blaize. the paper was edited by andrew n. thomas. the paper awakened nigerians to racial and political issues.
the first edition had four pages and carried mostly adverts, shipping intelligence, local news and editorial. on top of the first page was the press is a safeguard of public right. this reflect the principle of the paper.
it was published every two weeks; every 2nd and 4th wednesday of the month.
