Sacrifice

“Sacrifice is a part of life. It's supposed to be. It's not something to regret. It's something to aspire to.”
-Mitch Albom, The Five People You Meet in Heaven

Imagine a world, where no one cares for another. Imagine a world where a mother competes with her child for a breadcrumb. Imagine a world, where the son throws the bedridden mother for a luxury life ahead.
It is not hard to imagine. It is happening here and there around the globe. But despite all that, there still exists those who will be totally ignorant of their lust and do their best to fulfill the needs of others. If the world lost their sacrifices, then there will not even be a glimpse of happiness in this world. There will be no more love in the air. Sacrifices often do not come easily. It takes strength and courage. So, be grateful for the heart that sincerely sacrifices for you and for the heart that can make a sacrifice for the others.

While there are always more bounties to be grateful for, I have always reminded myself to be grateful for the sacrifices because it always goes by unnoticed. The uncounted blessing, perhaps. Sacrifice is said to always come with strong love.

An animal lover will sacrifice his time, money and everything to ensure the sick cat, he found on the roadside yesterday, can again jump playfully over a thread ball. The daily sacrifices a teacher makes to ensure the next generations are blessed with an education. The care of a health practitioner for the sick, the dedicated time of a researcher for the future of the world and human population, the willingness of a cleaner to dirty their hand for the hygiene maintenance of the society, and all the sacrifices made by everyone in their respective fields.

Often, these sacrifices were unrecognized, but for me, these are the greatest blessing for which we must be grateful. So my dear friends, be grateful, next time, someone made a sacrifice for you, whether it is the nurse who cleaned up your vomit on the floor or your mother who rushed to attend your need, leaving behind the brightest opportunity of her career life, or even the bus driver who skipped his meals to ensure you safely arrive at your destination. Give a genuine smile from the heart, a meaningful thank you, and a sincere prayer special for them.
