AN INVINCIBLE LOVE! A letter to an estranged friend.

Dear John,

I have mustered a lot of courage to write this letter to you. I am alone in a room; it's just me and this deafening silence. I am in dire need of a company. I seek for one, but then I am thwarted by this everlasting emptiness in my life. Somewhere a part of me knew that I was to lose you forever. A pinch of me constrained me from loving you, for it knew that you were a beautiful lie and I had to keep myself away.

John, you must remember reenacting a scene from the movie ‘The Bucket List’ on stage. You played the role of Mr. Carter Chambers, a terminally ill man,who lied on a hospital bed and talked about ‘Kopi Luwak’. Your performance was brimming with absolute passion. The hall burst with a loud applause at the end of your performance while I sat there, staring at you, beginning to fall for you.

On the day of your speech contest, you had chosen to talk about ‘perfect imperfection’. You were blabbering about how the back of your tie is always longer than the front. You were right. It didn’t matter. It didn’t change who you were and how you were. You were perfectly imperfect. You were awe-inspiring. Anything and everything you did amazed me, one way or the other. There was nothing that I didn’t like about you. You were the moon in the night sky, which shines amid those million stars. I liked you from the day I laid eyes on you.

But John, some things have terrible ends. You and I are an instance. As I write this, I can feel a brutal ache in my heart, for I know that you won’t ever come back, for I know that I have lost you forever!

Today, as I look into the mirror, I see a stranger staring back at me. She is more of your kind, someone more like an estranged friend that I once thought I knew. I knew you? It seems as if it was an erroneous belief. I still hope that at some point of time, we meet again. We meet, not as estranged friends, but as complete strangers and we befriend each other afresh. I would still love to listen to you speak while I sit sipping a cup of coffee.
