Why you should write 250 words a day?

in writing •  7 years ago

If you don't write regularly, 250 words sound like a lot. Until you see them on a printed page and you realize each line holds between 8 and 12 words. Then you think, that's not much. That could be doable. Until you start. And stare at a blank page or a screen for 2 hours. You tell yourself, okay, 150, or better, 100 words. Then, 50? 25? 10...0

I guess you have a point. I heard in a Tim Ferris podcasts that you should start with a goal which you cannot fail. Example: instead of 50 push ups you do 1 push up. But when you do 1 push up, you end up doing more. So definitely agree. 250 words is an arbitrary number, kind of just enough to pen a few coherent thoughts or ideas. Perhaps start with a Tweet a day.
