Calling all Steemit journalists!

I am pretty new to Steemit (here is my introduceyourself post) and maybe I haven’t been here for time enough for what I am about to put forward, but I am really curious to see where this idea could lead!

The Idea

I would like to propose an experiment on decentralized and sustainable journalism. Journalists would make posts describing a story they would like to cover and people would upvote (and therefore finance) the ideas they liked the best. If the idea produces enough upvotes for the materialization of the coverage, the journalist would go on assignment.

What kind of a Story?

Going to places: The best would be if the writer had to go out after the story, visit places, interview people, produce photographs... Also, I think it would be nice if the piece could deliver a bit more than a personal experience, but to make available real and useful information. Ex. A travel post would describe details like prices, routes, lodging options, etc.
The “selling pitch” should contain subject, possible sources, people interviewed, trips involved, importance of the topic covered, media of choice for the final product, etc.

Baby Steps

First, we need to organize ourselves, meaning we could use this post as a makeshift discussion forum with the purpose of perfecting the idea until we find a better place. (for instance, a moderator at the steemit.chat) could make a "newsroom" chatroom available to us. For now, though, I would suggest we spread the word and start a conversation about it in the comments session.

And?

How do you like the idea? Does anything similar exists around here?
All the best, everybody!
