The reason for the decimal is that, well, there's a second poem. A part two. I was so enamored with my first quatrain poem (or, I dunno, bored in class) that I wrote a more in-depth second poem. I think the name alone is worth another visit.
Anywho, this was literally just a snapshot of a moment in time where I was headed to school, the rain was crazy against the blue-clouded sky, and I remembered that I left the vitamin D I was (at the time) taking religiously in attempt to ward off depression on my kitchen table. And then I was like, what if my cat swallows it??
This is mildly (as are some future poems from moi) by this movie I watched called "Paterson" by Jim Jarmusch. You have this guy (played by Adam Driver) who writes these little poems about almost inconsequential stuff he encounters everywhere. It's an okay movie; it's hard to get through some of it, but ultimately it's pretty rewarding.
Without further ado, here it is:
Melting World (Part 1)
The painter's name is "Anne" but I couldn't find much more. Her work is presented here
drove too fast,
streetlights ran in rivulets down my windshield,
the world outside melted into blue and morning.
i left my vitamin D on the kitchen table.
~
I hope y'all don't think these teeny tiny poems are a waste of time. I just thought you'd enjoy it! Let me know if, like, "Bro! Stop with the tiny poems!" because I will! The next half (or compliment?) will come soon. I hope you liked it and let me know if you, ya know, did/didn't. I love hearing from you guys!
I hope you have a (non-dreary, non-North Carolina) day and God bless!!
Sometimes these little blurbs that pop up in our minds are the best because they are often the most relatable. Anytime one pops up in my mind I have to put it on paper so I can revisit it to revise it or revisit it to add upon in. They can easily turn into a poem or a phrase in a short story.

I completely agree! I think that's my favorite part about writing; pinning down little snippets of real life and reasoning them out with a pencil. :D

Really nice, @caleblailmusik! I love poems that capture the little details of life and resonate for that reason. Do you avail yourself of the poetry editors at #thewritersblock? I don’t write a lot of poetry, myself, but have seen wondrous things come out of the poetry workshop.

I haven't "availed" myself yet, no. I feel like I have a lot to keep up with, just with working in the fiction queue and all (which I haven't done in forever).
Oh, and ha! You said "resonate." :P
Thanks for stopping by @jayna. <3

You nut. You called me out on the use of “avail” and “resonate” but you didn’t harass me for misspelling “details.” (Whew! Maybe you missed it! Fixed now. 😊)

There's nothing wrong with avail, I'm just not used to it! And @arthur.grafo and I discussed 'resonate' just a few comments down :P
I think I remember seeing the 'details' thing, but you know how details and I get along :PPP

I see no reason for judging a poem according to its length - some of the Japanese ones are brilliant...and they are even shorter (I can't recall what they are called).
What does count is whether they touch me in some way (I see everyone uses the word 'resonate' but to me, the word creates images of 'make vibrant sounds', though it also means 'Be received or understood').
Touching my imagination or heart, creating images to send me into a world of strangeness or opening of memories I'd buried, these are descriptions I far prefer.
But this is steemit and the web, where everything must be shortened to one word.

Yeah, resonate's a bizarre word. You can't even really quantify what happens when a poem hits the right guitar string in your heart, but it just happens. It's inexplicable and beautiful and sometimes really sucks, but it's better than a bunch of nothing.
Thanks for commenting! :D
