When you have choices, don't settle for less
-Conleth Ibekwe
Truelight Glory House Ministeries, Owerri has been a home for me in recent times. Once again today, I was reminded and inspired by my pastor -Ifeanyi Uwakwe never to settle for less and suddenly my mind flashed aback to the words of one of my life coaches -Conleth Ibekwe, he said and I quote "In life we'll always have options or choices and when you find yourself in such a situation; never settle for less."
Understand that you're created for more and you should go for more. The goods of this world isn't meant for an elite group but it's also designed for you and I; we must consciously reach out for it and it starts with our mindset. For the Good book says "As a man thinketh in his heart, so he is."
It's average minds that consider average options -that's why you must strategically redefine your mindset by intentionally feeding it with the right things. It takes abnormal thinking to break out from average because average is the mindset of the normal, "refuse to be average. Let your heart soar as high as it will." -Aiden Wilson Tozer.
To aim at success is to refuse average. But life will always present you with average options alongside greatness but the average options come with ease that many opt for it but in the words of Robert G. Allen "Don't let the opinions of the average man sway you. Dream, and he thinks you're crazy. Succeed, and he thinks you're lucky. Acquire wealth, and he thinks you're greedy. Pay no attention. He simply doesn't understand."
OVERCOMING AVERAGE...
In 2012, Jacob Atem opened the first medical clinic in Maar, South Sudan. "Health care was desperately needed in the village, because there was nothing at all,” he said .
It was especially personal for Atem: At age six, after his parents were killed in the Sudanese Civil War , he had walked thousands of miles from Sudan to Ethiopia as the beginning of a harrowing nine-year odyssey through East African refugee camps.
When he was eventually selected for a program to bring orphaned “Lost Boys ” like him to the U.S., he didn’t know where the U.S. was. But he thrived, mastering English, graduating from Michigan’s Spring Arbor University, and—after founding the Southern Sudan Healthcare Organization in 2008—starting his studies toward a Ph.D. in health services at the University of Florida. His plan to gain the expertise that will allow his fledgling clinic to become a “model for the entire nation."
He was average but his mindset wasn't average and he fought average with everything in him. You too can and surely you'll attain greatness. "The hardest struggle of all is to be something different from what the average man is." -Robert H. Schuller. Average is maintaining the status quo and there is nothing aspirational about it, you must resolve to engage your mind with a no room for average war and you'll find yourself excelling in all frontiers of life. You're meant for more; you are worth more!
