History feeds us with gigantic pieces of information about wars, like swollen loaves of bread would.
Flash back to the early days of the scriptures, when rift and misunderstanding surfaced every now and then. It barely could be pointed out that war;due to aggravated disagreement, surfaced from communities in the same nation, except in very minute cases. As read and heard, wars were birthed between different nations.
Let's flash forward to the 21st century. In the African continent lies a 'mystery' hitting the continent hard.
To be specific, lets consider the hate saga among countries in the black continent.,taking the Xenophobic attack in South Africa as a case study.
S.A as at now, isn't done with tackling the issue of xenophobia that spurs among residents of that country and migrants who reside there. Gone are even the years when Apartheid ruled and reigned South Africans. The pain and the hurt inflicted on them,by their 'white masters' was horrific. Yet,every victim practically understood the term 'RACISM'.
Now that racism's been chased away, how do we explain attacks fueled by hatred between two or more continental 'brothers'?
Despite the economic proximity, close industrial partnership,a spray of discord still fills the air and even amplifies to the point of leaving behind casualties - dead or wounded.
Briefing up the cause of the attrocities, it all started sometime in 2008 when some citizens of S.A looted shops and stores of foreigners. These foreigners were traders from countries like Sudan,Nigeria,Somalia, and some african countries. They sought for greener pastures by relocating to southern africa. These migrants;Somalians, sudanese, etc. since then have had it tough together with the indigenes.
It's really terrible to have the gory sight of how S.A residents publicly attack these traders on streets, claiming they are taking over their land, because their businesses are thrivng . Naturally, one would expect the victims to fight back. They actually do too, which has not in anyway helped the terrible situation.
What is the South African government doing about it?
Is the S.A government aware of these at all?
Those and more are questions one wouldn't help but ask.
It is time the South African government gave respect to the lives of their immigrants, curb the rebellious and crime-enjoying residents,if peace would ever be totally present in the communities of that nation, even between S.A and other black nations.
Moreover, national leaders ruling the countries where those immigrants moved from should come up to the rescue if their citizens, provide reasonable sources of livelihood and other life-saving tactics,so their people won't wallow in the shadows of death, available in foreign lands.
These measures strictly taken, will quench the fire of war in the black continent.
