Tesla founder and CEO Elon Musk sent an email to his employees with six rules they must follow to improve the productivity of the electric vehicle manufacturer. See if they would result in your company.

Avoid meetings that are too long
"Excessive meetings are the plague of big business, and they almost always get worse over time. Please give up on all the big meetings, unless you are sure that they are generating value for the whole team. In that case, you should keep them as short as possible".
Pay attention to meeting frequency
"Also get rid of frequent meetings, unless you are dealing with an extremely urgent matter. The frequency of meetings should be spaced out quickly when the matter is resolved".
Leave the meeting, if you notice that you are wasting time
"Quit a meeting or turn off the calls as soon as you realize that it becomes obvious that the conversation will not get you anywhere. It's not rude to leave, it's rude to make someone stay and waste time".
Attention to acronyms and nonsense words
"Do not use acronyms or meaningless words for objects, software or processes at Tesla. In general, anything that requires an explanation inhibits communication. We do not want people having to memorize a glossary just for their Tesla duties".
Communicate directly regardless of hierarchy
"Communication must do the shortest path necessary to do the job, not through the hierarchy of power. Any manager who tries to impose the hierarchy of power communication will soon be working elsewhere. The biggest source of problems is the poor communication between departments. The way to solve this is to allow the free flow of information between all levels. If, in order to deal with the departments, a staff member has to speak with his manager, who talks to a director, who talks to a vice president, who talks to another vice president, who talks to a director, who talks with a manager, who talks to someone who is doing the real work, then super dumb things will happen. People should speak directly and make the right thing happen".
Follow the logic, not rules
"As a rule, always choose common sense as a guide. If following the rule of the company is obviously ridiculous in particular situations, in such a way that would be a great caricature of Dilbert, then the rule should change".
