BABY FACTORIES AND COMMERCIALIZATION OF CHILDREN

Babies and children are free gift from God, and as such should be treated with respect and sanctity; but, but the reverse is the case in our present era. Children and babies are now sold and purchased through various forms. These have resulted in commercialization of children.

A factory is a place where goods are produce by manufacturers and finally sold or commercialized to buyers for consumption. In this 21^st century, there are booming cases of sales or commercialization of babies in Nigeria.

Actually the increase rate in the commercialization of children is base on the following factors: prostitution, financial gain, trying to avoid the burden of taken care of babies, rituals etc.

Let us take a look at their causes and effects.
Prostitution can be seen as an act whereby people, especially women, earn money through sexual activities. Young girls in a bid to make ends meet prefer to sleep around instead of looking for something tangible to do. This often result in unwanted pregnancy and several sexually transmitted diseases sometimes. When they find their self in such situation, they will walk around looking for help. When the girls can not take up the responsibility, the doctors will negotiate with mothers of the babies on how to sell their babies. The babies are however sold according to their sexes. The males are sold for N500,000 while the females are for N400,000.

Also, unsatisfied delivery is one of the most remarkable factors, which causes a child to be seeing as an object of commercialization. This found in a family that is full of female children without a male child. When the mother of the children put to birth, and she still gives birth to a female child, she will be unsatisfied. As a result of this, Nurses that are after money will bring the issue of baby exchange. This will automatically change the hospital into a commercial centre for such an act of inhuminity.

Finanancial gain from the sales of babies is one of the factors surrounding the commercialization of children. In every place, they must be the responsible and irresponsible people. So the irresponsible youth of our society have devised a means of getting quick money which they do not deserve. To hit the nail to the head, I will say that the youth of today indulge in the kidnapping of babies and young children for spiritual purposes. This audacious and evil men who do not have the fear of God or God's gift use the children for blood money. But following following Isaac Newton's third law of motion, which states that, "To every action, there is equal and opposite reaction" so to every deed there is an equal and appropriate purnishment.

Poverty and greed are the major factors responsible for the commercialization of children. As we know one evil begets another evil. Poverty on the part of married people have led to different vices. Sometimes it might be as a result of laziness. This is seen in families where parents have more than ten children but do not have the money to carry out their parental responsibilities, they end up selling the children which they were to look after. They also forget the fact that the children are the future leaders of tommorrow. The buyers of this children will abuse the children by involving them in child traffcking in order that they may end the money use in buying them. Some heartless buyers can turn this children into sex workers, criminals etc. these should be stop because it is a very huge act of wickedness.

Lastly, there is no problem without any solution. If the sting of the daedly African cobra has an antidote, how much more the problem of baby factories and the commercialization of children not come to an end, since children male or female are gift from God. So families should accept them with joy, because they are still some people who do not have even a child. Also, prostitutes should learn to accept their faults and stop marketing God's gift. The operations of baby factories should be arrested by State Security Service (SSS), and parents should take up their parental responsibities.
