A legend from the 14th century tells of the time when the black plague devastated the European continent and annihilated a quarter of the population, that a traveller was walking at night to London. In the darkness he met two strangers with whom he spoke and soon learned that one was Plague and the other Fear. "In the next few days we're going to eliminate some 10,000 people in London," Pest said. Then the traveler asked, "You will carry out the killing, won't you?" "No," I immediately replied, "I will take the life of a thousand or two thousand. Fear will take care of the rest."

Definition 

 Fear is an emotion that arises from overwhelming situations, real or supposed, that are perceived as threatening, that make us vulnerable and affect our performance. All our fears have to do with the insecurity that the unknown produces in us and arise from our lack of capacity to face what is happening around us.

 Failure

 Rejection 

 Inability to work 

 Pain

 It blocks us

 It leads us to postpone actions 

 It prevents us from making decisions 

 Reduces the level of productivity

 It results in stress, altered nervous system, ulcers, headaches, skin allergies, stomach upset, insomnia, fatigue, loss of appetite, changes in blood pressure. 

Irrational Thoughts

Irrational thoughts play a key role in how you handle your fears. Albert Ellis creates Rational Emotional Theory that has been very effective in dealing with fears. He mentions a series of labels that help to detect irrational thoughts. He adds that there is a mental virus whose main objective is to destroy everything that smells of happiness and well-being in our lives. 

 Human attitudes will determine how you face your fears.

 It is important that you use empowerment techniques to properly manage your fears.

  • Take responsibility: Take the attitude that you can do more than just point fingers and blame yourself for everything you do. You can control the responses to your situation.  
  •  Limit your focus: Don't let the problem be the focus of your attention.
  •  Be optimistic: When you believe positively, despite the difficult times you may have, it will give you an opportunity to engage in positive behavior.   
  • Think creatively: See your problem from different perspectives. This will help you be more creative.  
  •  Have courage: Having courage does not mean that you are not afraid. It means he's not going to let fear paralyze him. 
  • Take action: Instead of backing down in the midst of tough times, determine what you can do to move forward.  
  •  Maintain a good sense of humor: Laughter can be an effective help in the midst of suffering. Look for opportunities to laugh.  
  •  Get support: An effective remedy to your problem is to have a good support network. Having people who can hear us is a way to get ahead. Remember that sometimes we are the ones who stop people from coming into our lives. 
  • Don't give up: One of the human qualities that allows us to overcome adversity is perseverance. Don't give up. You can get over yourself and get up.
