HOW I FINALLY FACED MY FEAR

in writing •  7 years ago

I had always had stage fright and facing the crowd was a no for me. I remembered one time in college, I had to present in front of the class as the presentation went on, and the lecturer told me to leave the stage because she could barely hear what I was saying. Oh yes, I was embarrassed and my self-esteem dropped. Fast-forward to 2017, I had a presentation in the office and I was to present to the entire staff of the organization with the Director in attendance. Every time I thought about it, my heart skipped, the thought of facing the audience and everyone staring at me scared me the more.
The morning of my presentation eventually came, I was more than nervous but I just had to do it or face a query, I kept on encouraging myself, telling myself that I can do it. After the prayer section which was a normal routine in the office it was time, I was ‘shaky’. I started and what I did was make eye contact with few people while talking. Everyone was surprised I could do it because I was tagged the ‘shy girl’.
My presentation eventually came to an end and it was time for feedback and whola! It was the Director of the organization. Guess what he said? Beautiful presentation! I was proud of myself that I could finally face my fear. Though still shaky but not as much as the first one. I have a presentation coming very soon and I hope to perform very well.
