My Favorite Way of Getting Inspired

If you’re a content creator of any form, you probably already know that being inspired, having ideas is perhaps the most important thing from the whole creational process because putting that idea in practice, if you have the right determination, is more accessible than attaining it.

And I know, it’s not always easy to get inspired, I have real life friends that I introduced to Steem, and they were like “How’s that you create so much? I couldn’t,” and it’s sad since it’s not so hard to get inspired.

For me, there’s only one way to get inspiration, it may or may not be the best, that’s why I said “My favorite way” and not “The best way”. It’s idiotic to make such a big claim since there are so many other ways but it sure as hell is the best way I know.

Before I get any further, I want to mention that there’s not one method that will guarantee you inspiration but there are certain things you can do that may trigger it.

Aquire Inspiration

The idea is that the inspiration is not going to come when you want it when you need it, but it will happen when you expect it the least, by surprise like a kick in the balls from life. You’re probably not going to get inspired if your life is the same every day, stagnant, you will have to expose yourself to new stuff every day, and you just might acquire inspiration here and there, nothing's sure.

Also, you need to have spare time to expose yourself to new stuff; you can’t just work every day like a robot if you want to have a more creative life. Seven months ago, before I joined Steem, I wasn’t a creative person, I wasn’t doing anything that was remotely creative, but after I got here, I started to develop specific behaviors and discover new passions.

Inspiration will strike you at the most unexpected moment, and if your mind is free, you have more significant chances to get new ideas. If you’re always stressed out about stupid shit, your mind will not be clear thus the inspiration will not be able to strike you. There’s a whole book written on this subject, I read it a long time ago, and maybe I should give it a read again, if you want to learn more about this I urge you to give it a read, it’s called Psycho-Cybernetics by Maxwell Maltz.

As I said, you need to expose yourself to new ideas, ways of thinking, something out of your comfort zone or out of the ordinary. I found that what works the best for me it’s watching outstanding movies, even if I haven’t watched any in a long time, or reading notable books. Any movie or book from Hunter S. Thompson or book from OSHO will always put me in the right mood for creating.

One thing I want to mention, and this is crucial, is to have some notebook or phone always around you where you can note your ideas. I have on my laptop and phone, a total of 30-50 titles, probably not all of them are good, but there are some gems I will fully take advantage of.

What Now?

The answer is simple, now that you have ideas you put them into practice you create. You have all the right tools; now you only have to take action and keep on going until you achieve what you want.

It’s always sad to see talented people, I’m not even talented, wasting their gift because they are too lazy actually to do something. I have friends that have a shitload of ideas, are on Steem and have talent but they are still not taking advantage of the fantastic opportunities this platform offers them, and it is sad.

Norok Guyfawkes4-20,

Being interested in different topics I start to discover your posts and on different topics I find your writings...

As a new here I see that there are people on steemit who also have thousands of different topics they want to discover and share experience... or simply learn (I read your article about LEARNING new things / skills...) I will come back to it.

I want to say that inspiration is everywhere around us but some people can't see it because they are not in the NOW, the moment where life happens, they are with head full of problems, as you said their mind isn't open to be inspired...

By the way if you haven't seen the movie PEACEFUL WARRIOR I think you will love it.

Perhaps what's important for me is that others will be just inspired... But inspiration without a purpose is just observation, nothing more.

You were talking about "too lazy to do something", once they will find their path, they will move further and become actif... being on steemit doesn't mean they will create great content even if they notice opportunities of this platform. For them I have a quote:

Quick come back to learning... you said you learned English and you use it to express yourself, I want to learn to draw and will post learning process here on steemit.
(More information in my post Here if interested)

Multumesc for your great content. Follow you and Follow ADsactly.

Cheers.

Thank you for this great comment, I love it.

You're totally right, but sadly, people are too caught up in their worthless games to see the real inspiration. I will check out that movie when I have time; lately, I'm working on too many stuff.

I love that quote from Steve, I read his biography, the huge one, and I can tell you that his determination is just impressive, there's no way not to love him.

I'm glad you liked that learning post, there's never too late to learn something, you can do it.

Good luck. ;)

How many projects do you run at the same time?

Find two hours for inspiring yourself and refresh your mind ;))) some times it helps to achieve more in less time... EFFICIENCY...or simply time management... If you need to organize or reorganize something or someone will be glad to help :D

Today is one of those days I am not inspired to write. I have not bothered to write, if it didn't come to me naturally I don't force it. I tried my hands on creating meme instead (created my first today). I have written two articles in the midst of a sermon about the things not related to what the prophet was saying...when it comes it comes.

Like you said, I walk around with my pen and pad so when ideas come i write them and sometimes the framework. I am kinda old school as i write everything down even the articles before typing, the more I write the more it keeps coming to me.

The bottom line live life, go outta your comfort zones, do something not normal and ideas will flow. Books, documentaries, movies and musics also help a lot.

Thank you for another good one.

I know the feeling, sometimes I don't have inspiration either, or I'm just not in the mood because all I want to do is to learn about crypto or money instead of creating, you just gotta accept it.

I don't know how you do that; I can't stand writing on paper, I never liked it. Writing on my laptop is way faster because I can correct mistakes or change things instantaneously, I couldn't write any other way.

Fuck normal or normal will fuck you. ;)

I like your methods. I agree that is important to keep your mind open. I believe that we cannot force ourselves to being creative. Sure, technically we can work on that but the result will never be the same as the result of pure inspiration that suddenly run down on us. So when this moment comes I'm as much productive as I can.

You're right; if you force it, it comes out fake. I like to take full advantage of that moment; I always love to have green tea around in case that happens, it helps me a lot. :)

Books and movies. Simple yet most people don't utilize these fantastic sources; sadly, including myself. I think I'll make reading more of a habit this year.

So creativity is something you can develop overtime then? I always thought it's a trait you're born with..

I used to read quite a lot back in the days, but since I joined Steem, I had other priorities and my time got lesser and lesser, but I'm thinking about reading more again.

Of course, some people are more or less creative than others, but I think that anything can be developed, like a muscle.

like mine please

I get where you're coming from, and I agree. Creativity of any form goes hand in hand with inspiration. As an aspiring writer, I find myself having so many drafts I'm not sure I'll ever develop. The point however is to write down the ideas as and when they come in mind so as to develop them when the inspiration comes. Nice one.

It's great to have a lot of drafts and ideas even if it might look overwhelming because that way you're certain you will not run out of ideas. Just take them one at a time until it's finished, good luck. ;)

If we are always inside the same 4 walls eventually it will be difficult to get inspired and make something new.

Sometimes changing our environment can help us spark our minds.

So taking our laptop/smartphone and go to a totally different place can be the solution if we are blocked.

That's totally right, breaking out of the ordinary helps a lot, stagnancy kills even the best. I'll maybe try to see how it's to write outside, this summer. :)

This is so true! I find letting go helps so much to lease the blocks that happen not only in creating but so many aspects of our lives.

Acceptance is so important; I always see people acting false, running away from who they are and that always breaks them down in the end.

Yea because they don't know who they are, which makes them not know what they truly want and what they need to work on. Then they are lost on a path that is nothing close to where they should be. Great point @guyfawkes4-20!

With me anything works - negative and positive inspiration. The most productive way to use your won rage or/and disappointment is to write it.

I get what you mean; I love to write while I'm angry, I feel that my posts get a specific type of edge that way, something like Gonzo. :)

What I've learned is look for contests if you're lacking inspiration. A few that I enjoy posting for is the #colorchallenge, #celestialchallenge, and #steemsilvergold seems to always have a few going on as well.

I have never considered contests, but it seems like a great idea, thanks for the suggestion. ;)

Did you mention that in your post and did I read over it :(

What I have got from Steemit... leaving back procrastination...
And I put some ideas on paper in the form of stories... raising questions and sharing ideas and working with my imagination.

That's always great, man, congrats. I hate procrastination; I think that it cripples down even the best taking away all of their potentials.

Just gotta love inspirational blogs!

follow me please
Excellent, that made me happy all the way through, time you made it into a film.

Getting inspiration from your daily life is a great thing :)

Awesome!

Wonderful charming awesome lovely amazing art i am really liked that post

Thank you for this article. I completely agree with you. I was also doing for a long time like literally nothing and always was too lazy to start something. That was also because I was always tired from work.
Some weeks ago I took a stop and said „No! I‘m working to live and don‘t live to work. Change won’t fall from the sky!“.
I started reading books I‘m interested in and now I‘m here being creative, doing something useful and being inspired day by day. Steemit is awesome! Greetings :)
