There are several words that change of definition depending on where you are. You will then see a list of words with different definitions in the United Kingdom and the United States.


1 Trolley
In the United Kingdom, a trolley is the cart in the supermarket where you put all the food you want to buy.

But in the United States, a trolley is a public transport tram.

2 Rubber
Be careful when you ask for a rubber! British children say rubber to rubber erasers which are used to correct an error written in pencil.

In the United States, the rubbers are preservatives that are used as a contraceptive and to prevent transmission of sexual diseases.

When Americans speak of a comforter, they speak of a kind of blanket as a quilt.
