What are YOU Waiting for?

What are you waiting for?
What are YOU waiting for?
Do you have potential?
Of course you do. You know that.
Do you have fear?
Of course you do. You know that.
Do you have courage?
Of course you do. You DON'T know that.

Develop yourself, everyday learn, learn about yourself.
Do you control your destiny or are you waiting for someone to?
It will be tough, your fingers will crack potentially as much as your mind.
Well… you can go back to that comfort zone… You can.
But then you can answer the question of whether you have courage or not.
Are you not sick and tired of your boss expecting more and more from you?
You’re already giving the most precious thing… your time.
You NEED to invest that time into YOU! Make your dreams possible, not just someone else’s.

There are going to be late nights, yes.
You will lose relationships, yes.
Girlfriends, wives, friends, potentially family…
However if they’re really there for you they’ll understand.
You have to understand not everyone is going to like you,
Speak up, make people mad by standing by your thoughts, your opinions,
Try not to please everyone as that brings you to your own demise,
Don’t settle, life is too short. Too short, unpredictable, crazy and beautiful.

What are you waiting for?
What are YOU waiting for?
Are you waiting to stew in society?
To become another number,
Another personality conformed by someone else,
Only accept what is on your own terms,
Push yourself; don’t let mediocrity drag you under,
It will swallow you whole and it won’t be forgiving.

To be alone is a gift,
The solace,
To quieten the noise around you,
The rumble of unwanted voices clogging up your thoughts,
You don’t need it,
You need constructive thoughts,
After all we are a product of your environment,
If you have friends make sure you benefit them as much as they benefit you.

Do you know that YOU have skills?
But don’t get me wrong life is challenging,
But do you take the time to develop and nurture these gifts,
Or are you waiting for someone else to push you?
WHY?
Develop the courage to progress what you have,
You may see jealousy in the eyes of those on looking,
You may hear words of a viper from those on looking,
You need to think about YOU,
You need to fight the current.

Develop a sense of urgency,
You don’t have hundreds of years to live,
You need to do it now!
If you have many dreams you need to prioritise,
Think what will make you happy,
Pluck that courage,
Become relentless, creative and enrich that fire,
Feed it logs, feed it whatever it needs,
You need to burn bright and express yourself in this life, this crazy, short life.

What are you waiting for?
What are YOU waiting for?
Are you going to reach the end of your life knowing you have lived?
Or wish that you would have.
In the end it really only comes down to YOU!
Whether you have that courage or not...
What are YOU waiting for?!

Fight the current,
Picture every challenging aspect you’ve come across,
Or are you going to encounter as a hurdle,
Life’s hurdles,
You can try run around them but that’ll be penalised,
You can go under and be seen as a fool,
But I’ll let you know what you should do,
Jump that hurdle,
If you get knocked down learn from it,
TRAIN! LEARN!
Don’t let it happen again!
Life is going to keep knocking you down,
You have to learn to deal with it and grow,
Because that next time you’ll leap that hurdle,
Land on your feet and be ready for that next hurdle!

So...
What are YOU going to do?
Will you hear these words and start being awake?
For what... 2 weeks?
Get back in your old ways again.
Beat yourself up. Do it. Do it. Do it!
Instead set your own code of conduct,
Follow your own path,
Create a contract to yourself,
Sign it on the dotted line,
Then you’re on your own path.
Do it. Do it. DO IT!

This is an original poem I wrote when I was in a dark place, feeling that I was lost. I called this place my abyss, it seemed endless. I needed to change my way of thinking, I needed to see more positives in everyday occurrences and so I put my mind and pen to the paper (literally). To note that during this spell of writing I was heavily influenced by Charles Bukowski and Kurt Cobain.

Awesome, top notch, pucker! :) Appreciate the awards 🍭

People are inspired by posts and encouraging words we write, but really it's for ourselves too. Writing, creating, to find some way of escape... create some art out of the darkness...

Lovely poem of yours @hopefulvagabond! And great influences.

Thanks @diabolika ... that's a great assessment, it is for ourselves as much as for everyone that can relate :)

By any chance if you have the time could you offer some constructive criticism (understand you may not have time though)
