Message in a bottle #17
Origin: Isle of Write
Sender: @sunravelme
Recipients: Steemit Creatives

Time to stop snoozing in the sunshine in our hammocks on the shore of the poetry pond at Isle of Write- here is our next round of poets to be featured in the poetry anthology!

To help build the community, we are planning on doing 8 weeks of curation, where we
-feature new and old poetry posts over the next eight weeks that are excellent and adding to steemit as a platform
-extend an invitation to the author to be part of the printed Steemit Poetry anthology
-reward poets 5 SBD for writing great work

Qualification Requirements:

If the poem employs a meter or rhyme scheme, that rule must be consistently followed.
If the poem employs a form, that form must be consistently followed.
Haiku / Tanka must employ a caesura between two complementary or contrasting images.
Effective use of concrete imagery.
No cliches.
Must be first published to steemit.
Author must be willing to go through a review and editing process with Isle of Write editors in preparation for publication.
English Language only.

See our first week's announcement here.

Many of these posts may be more than 7 days old, so upvotes won't benefit the authors, but feel free to check out their latest work and offer them a congratulations for being chosen!

Our first poem for this week is @carlschrijft's Blank#poetry

No I'm not your husband mom,
you know that father's dead.
Oh you saw him the other day?
Well, if that makes you feel better mom,
you know, then that's okay.

Our next poem is Bucharest by @csbegu

When life ends, do you still go to work?
In the grave, do they scratch your car?
Do you get melted asphalt on your shoes?

Our third choice is Capitulation by @bennettitalia

A capitulation
To darkness
Which
Let's be honest
At this point seems tireless
As if it could go on forever
And perhaps it could
Who knows?

Next up is There is a Lightness to the Night by @damianjayclay

Sunlight lifts the standing air
that evening sets upon your face.
The symmetry of bricks and streets
and rows of streetlights –
perfect this place.

@crimsonclad wrote this beautiful piece called to gather, in passing

keep pushing
when the radiance
builds to reflect the sun itself
pulling tears to the tips of your lashes;
or is it the searing trails
the thorns tear down your wrists

And our final choice is Catch The Falling Star by @shawnamawna

Constellation magic, tightrope strung
between the thighs of imagination, rhythm
section in the Wonka factory your body is
tasty morsels is a table for dining is hidden
gem sparkles that fell from your heart above

Every one of these poets is worth reading, upvoting, following, publishing. The Isle of Write is thrilled they have accepted our invitation to be a part of this endeavor. Thank you to all of our readers: without your upvotes, resteems, and follows, none of this would have been possible! If you want to support our efforts to bring the best of Steemit writing to a broader audience, you can help by upvoting the Isle of Write posts and spreading the word. And of course if you're feeling especially generous, we'll never say 'no' to a donation of some SBD or a delegation of SP. Thank you for reading!

@isleofwrite -- Wow, so honored to be here. I only saw your message right now :-).

It will be very good to make this poem. Because I like poetry. Thank you so much for posting this kind,
@isleofwrite

Congratulations to everyone chosen! Looking forward to seeing all of you at the Isle, though most of you are already familiar faces :)

Some real gems here, and hoo boy, this sure is a heavier draught. Many darker pieces, about the uselessness of it all, or fighting against such. Heady stuff.

So many hidden gems discovered, thank you for taking time to share!

Good day, islanders! If I write and I am eager to be noticed - what should I do? Tags, sharing, just write? Thankk you!

These are all great poems glad I saw the @ everyone tag on the discord. Here is my most recent poetry post on steemit https://steemit.com/poetry/@isteemithard/steemitpoetrycontest-15-long-night
