You have all probably gotten sick of me complaining about Steem-centric content. I have written about it, made proposals about it, and now I am doing something about it.

So here's what we're going to do:

Every week (ideally) we'll have a writing prompt that is non-Steem-centric. The prompt will focus on deep subjects that will require thoughtful and well organized posts. The goal is to make Steemians think and write meaningful content that might have more outward impact.

We'll start small with this first contest to see what kind of feedback we get.

Rules:
-Anyone can enter, whale, minnow, or otherwise
-Like and resteem this post to spread the word.
-Write a post that matches up with the writing prompt at the end of this post.
-Tag your post with #writingpromptcontest (we'll come up with something cooler if this works)
-A winner will be selected next Monday and awarded 15 SBD! I know it's not an exorbitant amount, but it's a start. If this thing grows, the rewards will be higher. The reason we are doing it on Monday is to give the owner of the post some extra publicity before the post is paid out. So not only do you get 15 SBD, you get notoriety and publicity.

Winners will be selected based on the following criteria:
-Not mentioning Steem or Steemit
-Well thought out, well organized
-Grammatically sound
-Unique perspective
-Ability to reach broader audience

I would love to talk to those who want to get involved with this project or contribute to its growth. Please send me a message on Busy if you are interested in getting involved.

Writing Prompt

For our first prompt of the series, here is what I want to see.

Describe the one person in your life that has had the most impact, and why.

Here is a guideline that may help you. Your goal should not be just to answer the prompt. Your goal should be to create a post around the idea. So, I don't want to see a paragraph that just says "I like so-and-so because they're so nice and loving and blah blah blah." Tell a story, give an example. Put us in your shoes, and help us to experience what makes that person so special.

The deadline is Friday 6/2 at 11:59 PM GMT!

If you have any questions, feel free to send me a message (on Busy). Happy writing!

Deadline? :)

Good question! Deadline will be Friday night (6/2) by 11:59 PM GMT. I've added that to the post.

Oh my gosh, what a great idea! While I don't mind reading the Steemit-based articles, because they're educational to me (when I can understand them), I, like you, would appreciate a bit more variety. I love so many of the non-Steemit posts. As an author of both fiction and non-fiction, with a few awards under my belt for short stories, I think getting people to exercise their creative muscles on a wide variety of topics will really contribute to the intellectual and cultural enrichment of the overall Steemit experience.

Thanks! I hope it will provide an outlet for those that don't know what to write about. The formatting may need work but I'm excited to see what comes of it. BTW I love your work!

Thanks, @jaredcwillis! I appreciate the compliment. :)
