Pearl Harbor Day is more than just a Facebook post

in writing •  7 years ago  (edited)

I didn't want to post about Pearl Harbor Day yesterday, not because I don't care, but because I care very much.

Being Hawaiian and coming from a military family, Pearl Harbor Day has always been an important day in my family history.

As I continue to reexamine my relationship with social media, I didn't feel like posting something into to newsfeed, into the cacophonous stream, was the best way for me to remember that day.

Maybe I will feel differently next year. But this year, I just wanted to reflect on the magnitude of that day, and the massive impact it has had on my family.

I don't need to make everything that is special to me public.

Thank you for reading.
