In the past decade, Philippines alphabet also evolve from they called alibata, abakada and now the alphabet.

Before the Spanish seize the our country, their have old language our ancestors use. The alibata composed of seventeen letters, the fourteen letter is consonant and the three letter is vowel.

When the Spanish arrived. The writing of the old alibata transferred to the word of the romans started in 1600 and the linguistic history written in the time of Romanization. The alibata change and called ABAKADA.

We use the abakada everyday because our country national language is Filipino/Tagalog means "Taga-ilog" or near the river.

Because of the fastest changing of technology and science, different tribe language and foreign language start changing the Filipino language. That's why the 20 letter of the Abakada is now 28 letters.

The added 8 letter are C, F, J, Ñ, Q, V, X and Z. If you pronounced the letters it's pronounce English except Ñ it's pronounce "enye". To cope with the demands of modernization, the commission of the Filipino language was file the 2001 Revision of the Alphabet and the Guidance of the Spelling of the Filipino language.
