The champagne in her glass was the buzzing as she watched over the skyline. There was a heaviness in her eyes, a sadness of a thousand years. There were hundreds of people commuting beneath her, they looked like ants, busy in their own world, connected and individual at the same time. This world of humans was something that she enjoyed more than where she had come from, still, it sometimes got lonely.
There was a transparent black curtain in front of her, separating the window from her body, her dress shimmered every time she moved. She loved life and she loved humanity. She was just oh so very tired. She had left home to help them evolve, to help them become the better versions of themselves, like she had once grown, but it was hard. There were two wars behind her and the cold war was still raging on in the seventies.
There was a time when she believed in changing the world by being in the field, by manual work, but she had learned that information and power came to those sitting high up on top. Nobody cared what the small person down there wanted or thought about, it was the men in the high chairs who decided. That was what was wrong with the masses below. They liked to follow, and as long as they would be comfortable they would not care about the world as a whole.
She loved humanity so much and yet she saw the flaws that she had hoped to fix by mixing her soul with the others. There were two species mixed in those souls on this Earth, and the follower side of angels made them want to have a leader, but the other side of the spirit wanted to be free. She had always known it would not be easy, but she loved her creations. She was partly responsible for them.
But there was this weird fog starting to take over her mind, every time she would be reborn it would take longer for her to remember where she came from, why she was here, she was getting worried as she knew that mind was ever expanding and even though it was able to store limitless information, it did decide what to prioritize, and right now it was prioritizing the last thousands of years, but not her roots. She had seen it happen before, generations after generations humans would forget their past.
She had seen tribes, pharaohs, knights and kings, emperors, dictators and politicians, they all came and went as the nations evolved, she was always there, she was always watching and trying to make it easier, but she knew it would not be possible if she forgot who she was, if she forgot the reason she was here. There were no angels here to remind her, this was the world om men and women and they were the ones who had to decide their own faith.
The only reason she was there, was that she was them, she had given her soul for them to exist and she had decided to leave Eden for them. She saw right from beginning that there was not just black and white and as the Universe created her as one separate organism, she wanted to create somebody like her and somebody quite different, somebody better. Just like her father had done. It was an experiment time after time, different mixes of mind and soul.
She was in this world, but she was in many others, she was split in dimensions that she missed of herself. She stood there with her champagne for a while, it was time to let the world spin again. She worried that she would have to leave the choices completely in their hands, they would have to choose without being able to explore the options, they would go in blind. She was becoming more human than ever as her mind was slipping, she knew she would be reborn as long as humans would not be ready to move on and as long as that happens she would not remember and she would not go back home with all of them, together.
The woman at the window turned around, she looked at all the people frozen in time. They were all like statues, like they were not alive, she had stopped the time in this room as she needed a moment alone. She moved her glass just slightly and the world started spinning again. An older man to her side continued a sentence he had started before she had frozen the world. She put a smile on her face again, and she continued on with the human life of hers.
Hope you have the best day, week and life,
Linda

Yeah, her emotions are pulled in different ways, I think that is what makes it relatable. I have conflicting emotions of world around me as well, about the world, about humanity, about everything as there are different sides I see.

Yes, you can, if you want. Sometimes, though, there are some days that you just need a little down time, the sad days. I think they make us better and give us the chance to realize how good the good days actually are.

You could so easily make a novel off of this short story! I’m left wanting to know more! That’s a great feeling. Thanks @mammasitta for resteeming! 😊

I have a problem with longer stories, I have so many stories in my head (I wrote 4 short pieces from the beginning of this month already). But it is somewhat hard to work out the bigger story. I think it is because I do not like huge disasters (culmination of the story) as most of my characters biggest thing to battle is themselves and ''the end of the world'' or ''alien invasion'', etc. does not seem appropriate as the biggest problem in humans that I see is their own inner world, their characters and their demons. I do not see the end of the world as that bad of a thing as we would not care if we were not here anymore. But we constantly battle who we are, we constantly strive for more and that seems so hard for me to write about, to put out the right feeling of it on paper.
