SALVAGING THE GIRL CHILD

in writing •  7 years ago

Over the years, girls were not being counted nor treated as a valuable part of creation whom God made.

Often in India, when a woman gives birth to a daughter, the baby is not welcomed with joy and happiness but in the other hand, when a boy child is given birth to, there's so much happiness licking from their hearts and songs of appraisal showered like water passing through the nozzle of a watering can.

In the early 40s, African women and girls faced these disheartening treatments from men. They were subjected to; "The kitchen, farm land and bedroom(baby factory)".

They believed that girls had no business with the classrooms, we were societal dysfunctional etc.

But today, through the filtration of ignorance from our minds, through the flexibility of rigid constitutions, the voices of the GIRL CHILD has been heard. I and my fellow girls have seen the 4 walls of nursery, primary, secondary, tertiary and the university. Not only have we seen, we have sat under the tutelage of some great instructors.

Guess what? We are being respected today, we are being acknowledged, our existence is greatly felt, we contributing immensely to the society, we are our own bosses, we are legalised.

My fellow girls, say no to; low self esteem, subjection to the bedroom and kitchen, no education. Stand up for your rights because I stood up for mine.
SAVE THE GIRL CHILD.
