The trap door

At first you freeze in terror, but quickly decide this is not something you want to face.

You manage to unfreeze your legs, turn and run towards the nearest exit.

Exhausted and scared you find yourself running down a long empty room with no ceiling, perhaps once an empty corridor in a grand house, now just a ruin.

Suddenly something gives way from underneath your feet and you have the familiar sensation of falling once again.

In your haste you realise you weren’t watching your step and have stepped upon some kind of disguised trap door.

You grab for the edge as you fall though and manage to catch the edge with one hand. You are dangling, but despite your efforts to hold on, you feel your fingers begin to slip.

Damn!, you’ve let go and now you find yourself free falling into the trap.

You watch the light at the top of the hole disappear as you fall backwards into the dark abyss. You spin your body around and reach out for anything else to grab, but there is nothing to hold on to. You feel the rush of the passing wind in your face as you drop.

The end, or is it?

You scald yourself and wish you were paying more attention.

All you can do now is consider your choices that led you to this point as you fall into the darkness of the bottomless pit.

After a few moments, you hear a familiar voice “Hello traveller, you tried your best, but I can see this is not working” The voice is that of Astra, her words are peaceful and spoken in a kind and reassuring manner instantly putting you at ease.

This is not the END. …but it is the end of the road for your current attempt.
