MY VOCAB PRACTICE

  1. Brief
    I had a brief discussion with the suspect today.
  1. Brevity
    The major theme in Andrew Marvel's To His Coy Mistress is the brevity of life.

  2. Abbreviation
    My English teacher told me to avoid abbreviation when writing formal letters.

  3. *Abridged
    The abridged version of the English dictionary can be misleading sometimes.

PS: I am finding these exercises quite interesting as the days roll by. Thank you sir.

I think you missed the word "teacher" in #2. But I ignored that little slip-up. :-)

MY VOCAB PRACTICE

  1. Brief
    We had a brief meeting on discord due to server issues.
  2. Brevity
    His article was not accepted because of its brevity.
  3. Abbreviate
    It is wrong to use abbreviations when writing a formal letter.
  4. Abridge
    Ramon gave an abridged account of the whole story.

MY VOCAB PRACTICE

  1. Brief
    Our history teacher always gives a brief introduction
  2. Brevity
    Due to the brevity of the speeches, we finished fast.
  3. Abbreviate
    I like to abbreviate the names of people because it's easy to remember
  4. Abridge
    Judge has power to abridge or extend time according to some rules.

MY VOCAB PRACTICE:

  1. Brief
    I prefer to have a brief lunch-break, otherwise I'd lose myself into activities that would overly distract me and zone me out from my main focus on work.

  2. Brevity
    Brevity is not my father's best quality: whatever he is discussing he lose himself into inane details and he goes tangents.

  3. Abbreviate
    I hate when Anglo- Saxons use acronyms or abbreviate words: language is a free key to communicate in a variety of codes and I dislike to save in expression.

  4. Abridge
    My supervisor showed his disapproval when I abridged the field mission to attend an art exhibition in another town, demonstrating not professional priorities.

"Abridge" is used to shorten some THING, such as a book or a story. We usually do not use it when we talk about shortening time.

4.it was clearly written on the paper that Essay should be abridged.

1- Brief
Teacher ask the student to give brief introduction about himself on the first day of school.

2- Brevity
Brevity in speech always save your time.

3- Abbreviate
We should not Abbreviate the names of others!

4- Abridge
At the age of Sixty we all have Abridge time left.

"Abridge" is clearly a verb, as the definition begins with "to." However, you used it as an adjective. :-(

    Andress always used brevity codes to his logistics.

  3. abbreviate
    the bad weather forced us to abbreviate our travel .

  4. abridge
    He told me to abridge some of the content of my story because it's very long .

MY VOCAB PRACTICE

1- Brief
While I was delivering the presentation, my boss advised me to remain brief and to the point.
2- Brevity
Our university's library uses brevity codes to keep the catalog manageable.
3- Abbreviate
The bad weather forced us to abbreviate our visit to the industrial zone.
4- Abridge
I needed to abridge my thesis as it was exceeding the given limit of maximum fifty pages.

MY VOCAB PRACTICE:

  1. Brief: Give a brief description of Bali.

  2. Brevity: The president made his points with praiseworthy brevity.

  3. Abbreviate: When writing the date, you can abbreviate September to Sept. as a way to save space.

  4. Abridge: Mr. Hudson asked me to abridge my report to the committee so that there would be time for questions.

. # 2 appears to have been plagiarized. Please make sure to compose your own sentences. Anything copied from the internet and pasted here will be ignored, or worse!
