The way we live.

We are too busy keeping up an exaggerated representation of our real lives and working to achieve valuable higher social concerns such as equality to do much about how badly we are screwing the slaves that make our things, or how badly we are being screwed by the people that run the world, or the climate catastrophe that is quickly unfolding.
This is pure irony. Re-arranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.

We have the ultimate tool of global connection, and we are using it to post gym selfies or whinge about the service at a local cafe instead of coming together to tackle the biggest issues that threaten the future of humanity as we know it.
A catastrophic breakdown of the system that allows us to be so narcissistic and idealistic is heading our way, and we just have to check that post one more time to see how many likes we got.

Looking back on this time, the people that make it through this nonsense will be left shaking their heads at the short-sighted futility of our current behaviour, and our failure to utilise the tools we have to unite as a species and overcome the obstacles that threaten our very survival.
Race, religion, sexual orientation, gender, and social stratification have us bickering, while the looming sunset of our time is being uploaded to instagram with a pouty face and some emojis for the short term dopamine release the likes provide.

Immigration is not the problem, gender politics are not the problem, religious wars are not the problem, tweeting presidents are not the problem. The distraction is the problem. We are being deliberately distracted to keep on arguing, buying, sharing, and liking, so we don't utilise the real potential we have to unite and enact true and lasting change for the future of our species. We are being divided and conquered. Uniting and leading would be a far better use of our time.

Why is it called social media? The uses for it are much greater than just that.
This system or something like it could just as well be used to facilitate mass organisation of humanity for positive change, a global citizens alliance of a kind, to overthrow the old systems of rule, and replace the greying power structures who view themselves as above the law and grip the world in psychopathic greed, paedophilia, and human trafficking.

The game is rigged but we can change the game. Activists and whistleblowers are disposed of, the current system does not tolerate what they see as pesky meddlers. What if the species became the pesky meddler? We don't need new people, we need a new system. This one is broken and it is only our continuing tolerance of it that allows it to control us.
How badly did we go astray that robots replacing our jobs is seen as a bad thing? Why are we continuing to glorify the economy like a divine entity, when it is the very economic system of endless growth we are using that has got us into so much strife?

It is better in this case to act than react, to change instead of be changed, to lead instead of be lead. We are living under an unsustainable system propped up on slavery and if we don't change it we will only realise we should have when it fails, and by then it will be too late.
