Short-Story: Going on vacation

in writing •  7 years ago

Small short-short-story and an alternative beginning of something I'm working on.

Matt and Kate lay in bed in the bedroom of his space freighter Au Revoir.
“Thanks that you have taken me. A time out of home is really needed sometimes.” she said.
“I am always glad when you are with me.” answered Matt and kissed her pregnant belly.
“Soon she is there.” grinned Kate and fondled Matt the head.
They lay there just calmly.

“How long do we need to Elos?” she asked. “We should be there in three hours.” answered Matt. “I am glad to get to know your uncle.
Two-week vacation and nobody knows about where I am. No phone, no Internet, simply away.” meant Kate. “And discover so many new things.
Two moons, for example. Animals, plants and other living beings. I would make with pleasure pictures, but can't show them then to anybody.”
“Yes, would not be good if all people on the earth knew. Could start a considerable chaos.” he replied.
“I am so excited.” giggled Kate.

They still lay for a while cuddling in bed and listened to Beethoven's moonlight sonata,
until they drew the attention to the dashboard computer that they reach their destination in a few minutes.
A light shake wears out the spaceship when it fell from the hyperspace and braked.
Hardly ten seconds later it sounded “Incomming communication!” from the dashboard computer.
“Accept.” said Matt.
“MATTHIEU! Bienvenue and hello to the lovely Katharina. I have expected you.”
It was Matts uncle.
“Hey uncle Jaques. Everything's all right?” asked Matt.
“Hello, Jaques.” Kate shouted joyfully.
“Everything's all right. Katharina, I hope the trip was not so bad for you and you are well.”
“Yes, was quite thrilling. But I feel excellent.”
“This pleases me to hear.”

“Matty, the cargo container is determined for Elos?” asked Jaques.
“Yes, must deliver it to the cargo harbour Ada Soler. Then we have vacation.” answered Matt.
“Well well, then I accompany you.”
“Where are you then?” asked Matt.
“Just look through the window.”
Matt pressed a button and opened the protective cover from the bedroom window.
“Oh. How did you know?”
“Already thought that you lie in bed.” laughed Jaques.
Kate laughed too.
“Then, follow me.” meant Jaques.

Matt ran to the cockpit and flew behind his uncle Jaques.
Kate followed him and watched enthusiastically how they approached the planet Elos and slowly enter into the atmosphere.
“So wonderful.” she whispered and shone with joy.
Matt looked at her and was also glad.
“Just unload the container to Ada Soler and we can fly directly to my uncle's beach house.” said Matt.
“This is going to be so great.” meant Kate.

The unloading was quite simple. Matt perfectly landed the container on the assigned place and after a worker scanned the code on the container,
his payment was credited onto his account a few seconds later. A little bit more than agreed.
He saw from above from his cockpit how his uncle still talked to somebody. Good friends, thought Matt.
His uncle waved to him and lifted the thumb. Then he ran to his shuttle, got on and took off.
He spoke through the radio: “A small bonus, because you two are gonna have a child.”
“Thank you so much, Jaques.”
Kate was glad. She looked at everything completely with pleasure.
“Then Matty. After me! Let the vacation begin. Whoohoooo!”
“Whoohooo!” answers Kate.
Jaques laughed. “I like your girl.”
Matt took off and followed Jaques.
“FYI, Jaques is a little bit crazy.” meant Matt.
Kate kissed Matt. “Thanks again for the trip.”

Hope you liked it. =)

Sincerely Matt.
