But... why do the things we don't want to do?
- Do we think it will please other people?
- Do we think people actually care what we do?
- Is it because it's actually good for us?
- Because it usually brings us out of our comfort zone?
- Or is it because you just don't like anything?
- Are these questions making you feel anxious?
If you're like me, you most likely answered yes to these questions. And that's okay. It's normal.
I get anxious about 'things' too. Nervous. Skeptical. I make excuses and then the project is left untouched. I make up excuses and never see my friends. And then I feel guilty about disappointing others… I'm indecisive, impatient, obsessive, dramatic, and awkward.
But I'll let you on a wee little secret I just discovered to cope with all that crap.
The secret is writing. It is so therapeutic.
And this is coming from a high-strung individual whom, a few days ago, thought her world was ending because she’s been unemployed for a few months... She didn't know what the hell she was doing with her broke butt.
So I'll try to stress how therapeutic it is through some words...
I found it. You know when you just 'click' with someone...You know when you know you've found the one? That's what writing feels like.
Maybe it's because I finally get to talk about myself to people who care and want to listen? I'm sure I'll figure out the reason soon.
Nonetheless, I encourage you; just like I was encouraged by some of you. And write. Because it feels so. Freaking. Good.
And here I am; being dramatic again. Some personality traits will just never take the hint.
So, what makes you happy?
I'm genuinely curious! For two years I felt miserable and empty, desperately searching for a hobby. Food was my only hobby. Not cooking, nor baking. Literally just eating Twizzlers and Smart Food. And considering that a hobby.
Well sugar baby, I've moved on.
In addition to food and writing, I love music, dancing, dogs, dancing dogs and quotes.
I only found this quote a year ago, but it makes me happy, so I'll share:
"Do what you love or love what you do"
This speaks to me. You either, A) love a hobby or, B) you need to learn to love the little things.
Every step of the journey counts. It makes you who you are today. Today, I love my mental health illnesses. Without them, I wouldn't be courageous enough to sit here, writing.
So let's start kick-start your day. I encourage you to try these two ideas:
Have eggs for breakfast. This will make your day 139348 times better. I'm not lying. Go ahead, try it! What you eat for breakfast will determine what you eat/and how you feel, for the rest of the day. Eggs will help get you through the day. So no excuses. I HATE eggs. So does my sister. But we eat them every day together.
Squat. Go for 50 body weight squats in your room, or at the gym. Take breaks and drink water. Just do it! It will increase your serotonin and get your bowels moving.
I once heard that living is the experience of cutting up vegetables in your kitchen at 8 pm on Saturday night. I did not understand in my 20's what that really implied but years later I understand that if your not enjoying that moment your likely not really enjoying any of the other moments either.
