Jessica had read a little about the Wolf knowledge but not enough to explain that when she turned for the first time, she would be in utter and unimaginable agony and that the offer she had made to Lord Grey would condemn her to that agony until she was allowed to feed upon human flesh, three long months hence.

By the time her neck started to elongate and the change along her spine and down her limbs had begun, she thought she would die from the excruciating torment that enveloped her.

Her shrieks were distressing to the patrons of the bar below and many left to find other, more peaceful places to drink and socialise - the screams reminded them of their own first time perhaps.

Her new raw power overtook her whole being and though it was indeed agony, the pain and terror were secondary to the euphoria she felt.

She wondered for a fleeting moment how she would cope if the pain continued but the euphoria didn’t.

Lord Grey could hear her even in his office and he made Entwistle listen as she gave voice to her suffering. Entwistle cringed with every sound and he was in floods of tears, which brought only further disdain from his ‘master’.

“You have caused those sounds," Lord Grey said in anger and disdain. "You have caused that young girl the pain that she is in now and do you know what else you’re responsible for?”

“No, my Lord, what have I done?”

“You are responsible for her pain and agony for the next three Full Moons. She will not be allowed to feed on human flesh until the Full Moon of Feralia and she will exist in complete agony until then.”

“Why does she have to wait until Feralia my Lord? Can’t she feed now, tonight?”

Lord Grey picked up a paperweight from his desk and threw it with unerring accuracy at Entwistle who didn’t have the guile or gumption to duck. The square weight hit him in the forehead and gashed the skin which closed and healed immediately.

“She has to wait because she will then be the Prophesised One, you moron!” Lord Grey yelled at Entwistle and he ducked down then and held his head in his hands and sobbed.

Whether it was because of his master’s displeasure that he was crying or because of the pain that he had inflicted upon Jessica, Lord Grey didn’t know or care.

“Get out of my sight, you snivelling wretch!” he said, pointing at the door.

Jessica was still in the conservatory room. The toughened glass was up to the task of keeping her in but she was making a terrific row about trying to get out.

Lord Grey did wonder whether to allow her to escape and wreak havoc upon the town just for the laugh, but then he decided that it would be more trouble than it was worth.

He hadn’t managed to re-build his army since it was decimated by the Scottish Wolves and the ones that had remained loyal to him – or dependent on him for their ‘fix’ were by and large not the elders that he would have liked by his side in the situation.

The only elders he had were Vladimir, and he threw his allegiance in the direction that he wanted at the drop of a hat and he was with Lord Grey on a whim rather than for any other reason.

Selene, who, as soon as she found out about the deaths (or execution) of her sisters - would be off like a shot, straight to the Sentinels to cause as much damage as she could.

Riley was loyal and faithful but young and inexperienced.

Etienne was as insane as Entwistle was, and Falco.

Falco was there only because of a sense of acute embarrassment due to the monetary debt he owed and the drugs and debauchery that he had indulged in over the few decades of decadence late in the previous century.

Lord Grey often wondered how long that embarrassment would keep such a proud and previously noble Wolf by his side.

So Lord Grey had to keep a low profile, watch and wait to see how the events of the Lupine moon would unfold and hope to spot the opportunity when it occurred and then grasp with both hands.

In the meantime he had to allow his faithful to do as they pleased and hope that they kept themselves out of trouble because if he was to go out and be spotted, then the chances were that the Sentinels would be on him like a rash.

When Entwistle had scuttled out of his office, Lord Grey went to the receptionist’s desk and checked on the room where Jessica was captive. It was proving to be an exceptionally busy night and he was delighted with one outcome but not so much with another.

Jessica would need to be kept captive and guarded for almost three months and it would prove to be one huge ball-ache, he knew it would.

The main problem would be how to get her from one room to the cellar without damaging her too much.

I am not sure about:

Riley was loyal and faithful but young and inexperienced.

It seems that Lord Grey may be missing something, or Riley is really really good at what he does.

Entwistle - - I am not sure what to think, sad because he screwed up, or sad because he does care? Or just sad because he knows he is dead meat soon. not sure about the turn here. Lupine Moon effect maybe?

Glad I found yoy
