This is the final part. I have no more of The Wolf Series written. I have ideas, but they will take time to excavate from my head.

If you're interested, I'll start right away (or at least after a little 'Dusty' break)... but I make no promises. My Wolves are wild and they tell their stories only when they want to.

On the terrace as before, Darius stood at the front but he had two female Wolves flanking him.

The smaller one was the pretender for the Prophecy.

Red knew now that Jessica was not going to be the Prophesised One because the kill she had made didn’t fall right, but she also knew that there was a good chance that the amulet may enhance her and she would put up a good fight.

Red was not prepared to put herself at risk for the traitorous Darius.

He had had far too many chances over her time and he had far too much ambition.

Red stood on the lawn and beckoned to Jessica to come and confront her.

Jessica looked up at Darius and he nodded to her.

Jessica’s form melted into that of a Wolf and she stood on her hind legs and howled at the moon.

Red and more than a few others were impressed, because they knew that Jessica had technically been a Wolf for only three months and she should not be able to do that.

First she had resisted change at the Full Moon, and then she had changed so expertly that Wolves were talking about her.

Red had a moment of doubt then and she wondered if the amulet was helping, as well as the drugs and hormones that Darius would have pumped into her.

Red changed to Wolf too and they circled each other with a wary respect.

Then Red leaped at the younger Wolf and the slicing and biting began.

Jessica was bowled over by Red’s attack and she was sent sprawling across the lawn.

She was already injured and a panicked expression had taken up residence on her features.

Red held back and watched as she regained her feet and her wounds sealed themselves before her eyes.

Damn that Darius and his hormone enhancements.

Jessica rushed at Red and she stepped aside and allowed her to hurtle past but Red turned to face her again, expecting that the rush past was some sort of ruse but it wasn’t.

Jessica may have been adept at changing and she may have accentuated healing prowess and aggression but she was lacking in fighting skills.

Red was knocking her attacks to the side before she was getting in close with her teeth or claws and Jessica was exhausting herself to boot.

What the hell was happening?

The Sentinel Exemplar reared up high to slam her weight into Jessica’s body as she made another half-assed attack when she heard warning shouts from around the make-shift arena.

Instead of delivering the death-blow to Jessica’s back, to break the spine and render her crippled, thereby making it illegal for her to be allowed to live, Red moved to one side instead and a silver blade thudded into Jessica’s left eye up to the hilt.

The young Wolf juddered to a halt and her head quivered as the silver worked on her brain and then she fell forward to lie on the lawn.

Red heard Paul scream his distress and she saw Erzsébet, Anton and a few others running off to the trees where Etienne had fled.

Red leaped up onto the terrace where Darius was standing stock-still and in shock.

Darius’s dream was dead, it had been killed with Jessica and he had nothing left.

He had no hate, not for Red nor Etienne.

He watched as Paul ran to his daughter and sobbed for his loss and he couldn’t even manage to feel sorry for himself.

Red watched the Wolf she had hated for so long crumple before her eyes and she knew that he had given this his all; he was reduced to nothing, no rebellion, no drugs industry and no lackeys to take it further.

Red put her hand on his arm and he looked at her. His mouth was open in an unasked, “Why?” and she pushed him gently away from her and said, “Go on, fuck off home.”

Then she turned and ran into the woods to find Etienne.

Red scoured the woods with the others and it was only going to be a matter of time before they found the rogue murdering bitch Throwback-turned-Wolf.

Erzsébet extracted the story from her without a problem and as it turned out, Etienne knew that she was insane.

She had known since she was very young. There was something very wrong in the world according to Etienne, but once she found Darius, she latched on to him and thought she had found her soul-mate.

When he began to give Jessica more time than he did her, she became insanely jealous and in a fit of that jealousy, she formulated her plan.

Jessica was the one that had taken Darius away from her and so she had to die of course. The next part of the plan was for Darius to die alongside her.

Etienne was so calm that they didn’t see her next act coming.

She broke one of Darius’s vials in her mouth but it didn’t contain adrenalin or hormones, it contained water with silver particles mixed in it.

As the silver burned through her oesophagus, the screaming stopped, but the writhing agonies didn’t. Many a battle-hardened Wolf would take to his grave, the gurgling sounds of that beautiful woman as she thrashed in indescribable agonies.

Red turned to Erzsébet and Anton and said two words.

“Fucking Throwbacks!”

Erzsébet smiled at her as she turned to walk from the woods and replied, “Wait 'til next year.”
