Sometimes, the world's pains and despair pushes you to give up on everything.
Why should I care when the police are killing people?
Even with video proof of these murders, the police are not getting in trouble?
So where do police go when they break the law?
To calm down, I decided to revisit an old friend, Joseph Campbell, so I watched Finding Joe for the 36th time.
I decided it was time for me to take the Hero's Journey again, but where would I begin?
And then I received the call to adventure!
While taking the Virtually Everything Story, an interesting thing happened, I got ANOTHER call to adventure!
Armed with mentors, I crossed the first threshold and met my first ally Taskworld.
Peering over into the Magical World, I noticed a vacant apartment on the beach in Treasure Island, talk about a roadmap!
I moved in a few days later and the Magical World proved to be trickier than I realized.
Given a recipe of migraine headaches, the Magical World became a fuzzy place and I finally found solace in a new project at work involving ServiceNow.
Even though the new project gave me incredible training on how to use my sword, the migraines eventually grew in size and like genies, they refused to go away.
I eventually called two wizards and they came in and delivered the sad news - you have MOLD of epic proportions in your new apartment!
So I packed my things and left Sunset Beach in Treasure Island to lick my wounds.
Like most people, I sat there and wondered, "what's the point in going forward?
No matter what you do, bad things happen to everybody!"
However, as I sat beside the fire, I heard footsteps in the distance and peering out into the moonlit forest, another ally arrived.
He was from a nearby village, Dropbox, and he read me a prophecy about simplifying the world from local wizards Confluence and Google Docs.
With two allies, Taskworld and Dropbox Paper, I went back to my job with renewed zest for life.
While at work, I came across a new wizard, Nick Stephenson, and he passed out a pamphlet entitled Reader Magnets.
I read the information at lunch as I practiced with my sword and never gave it a second thought.
For some reason, after work today, I felt an urge to go a different way home and while in a desolate part of the forest, I came across an incredible site, a unicorn with magical abilities.
The unicorn drank from an emerald lake and the locals told me it was a good sign, "if you see the magical unicorn Canva, you must ride her to the mountains for clearer vision."
The next day, I saw Canva again and as I rode the powerful steed, the truth dawned upon me - Canva allowed me to see things more clearly and inspired me to design my own future.
On Friday, I felt the magical energy from the Magical World returning to my veins and at 11:30 am, I finished the ServiceNow paperwork and at 1:30, my supervisor gave me the great news, "We're sorry, but we no longer require your services as a squire, we are downsizing our kingdom and you must find work elsewhere."
As my two weeks passed, I spent my lunch practicing with my three allies (Taskworld, Dropbox Paper, Canva) and an incredible idea came to me.
You should try to #exceedeverything and do the unthinkable - how about writing two books?
Five Books?
Why not Ten?
So I went to the middle of the forest with my three allies and swore on the Magical Oak that I would finish the #tenbookchallenge.
The next few days, the As you know, Tampa was hit by Hurricane Hermine and for those that don't know, howling winds and heavy rain, yes, we're talking Noah's Ark rain.
Many despise the weather, but as an Aquarius, the rain quenched my soul and pushed me to ponder the Future, so I actually LOVE the Hurricane Weather.
But here's the ironic part, as the Storm raged outside, I had an equally and even more intense storm within.
And now, I can thankfully say, that I survived both - LMAO!
As the streets stop flooding and return to normal, I smile because the sunshine within will linger longer.
(Can you hear Bill Wither's singing Lovely Day?)
So I turned up Q105 and its 80s music and responded - YES!
And after five days of enduring hurricanes outside and within, I performed my own kind of Olympics and reached the finish line.
That's right - I completed the #tenbookchallenge in 5 days!!!!!
And now that I have finished my journey, I return to the forest to tell you, the members of the LinkedIn Kingdom, that I bring good news from the other part of the forest.
Like the travelers before me, you must enter the dark forest where there is no opening. You can only honor light when you've been through the darkness.
When you take your journey, everyone else will see walls, but when you continue, your allies will magically appear and show you doors on your path.
You must learn that when you give up the outer layers and let that foolishness DIE, you take away the dead weight and you will be reborn as something new.
Once this happens to you, you will learn to keep dying.
Good Luck on your Hero's Journey and I can't wait to hear what treasure you'll bring back to the SteemIt Community.
