Well written. There's a brilliant comedian that tackles this very subject.....without wearing pants! Adrienne Truscott delivers some truths about rape and challenges the thinking around rape and the culture that still supports it. With any form of free speech or expression there's an unwritten rule of responsibility that goes along with it and, as you allude to, any asshole can make a rape joke. The true artist can get you to challenge your thinking and level of consciousness around it.

On the flip side: Male prison rape is an ongoing joke that everyone laughs at, but nobody says we should do something about because male rape isn't something anyone cares about. Imagine getting raped, brutally, in the asshole, then nobody cares and society laughs about it.

Prison rape and a culture of defining the disenfranchised prison populations with a wide brush and a narrow view are absolutely a real problem, and the fact it can be used as a deterrent from committing crimes is why it will never be properly addressed.

A man gets sent to prison and one of the inmates is showing him around.

"Prison isn't so bad, we have cable, free food, exercise equipment. Hell, we even put together a box that if you put your dick in one end you'll get a great blowjob, and on the other end you can jam in for a tight fuck. You'll be able to use it everyday but Tuesdays and Thursdays."

"Why not Tuesday's and Thursday's?"

Where was I talking about just female rape anywhere in this post? More male friends have confessed thier sexual assault experiences to me and I in no way undermine the act of male rape being any better or worst than female rape. Rape is equally traumatic by either gender and I am insulted you would think I would think otherwise. Christ! I am strongly against male rape to and honestly I don't really wanna be going on on male rape jokes either. Both make me feel like I want to have a serious discussion about rape. And rape is such a downer, but if we are going to joke about it we are gonna talk about it too. Seems silly to joke about it but not really have a discussion about it. Right? God, I am so sorry you thought I was just talking about women. Very sorry. I trued to make it as gender nutral in my post as possible to honor my friend.
