STACH Short Story Contest #20: Valentine Special- 199 words, a lovely prize pool, everyone wins!

I was twelve when the valentine fever was rocking the air. My elder sister was going out with her boyfriend that night and she teased me for being a child that is not yet ripe for romantic love. I set out to prove her wrong. There was a girl in our neighborhood who I liked her so I summoned courage to ask her to be my date for the Val. To my greatest surprise she agreed. We agreed to meet at the park near our house. That was the park all lovers were going. When evening came, my sister was dressing up so was I, she was shocked to know that I had a date and was eager to know who.

Grace was there before me in a red gown and was looking radiant, when I saw her I was speechless and did not know what to do. We stood there underneath a tree looking at each other. My sister who had come with me laughed at us for being puppies in the business of love. But we later paired off and that night I had my first kiss with a girl everyone would have been glad to have.
