Hey, guys! Today, I have decided I'll just do some freewrites with my Steemit personal goal of one post every single day!

"Wait, why freewrites?" you ask.

Well, it's coz the people who host freewrite contests on Steemit will provide a prompt! (>.< Haha)

Sometimes, I don't really know what to write everyday! I mean, have you ever forced yourself to create a post every single day for a few weeks? It can get a little tiring! (I mean very)

If I heard correctly, the freewrite challenges demand that you type continuously without stopping -- probably using the themostdangerouswritingapp.com -- and not edit them after that!

Wow. That's harsh.

Yeah, wouldn't you think so! But since this exercise is more to help me with my choice of topics, I'm going to just ignore that "no editing" rule! :P (If anyone knows I'm mistaken about the rule, please let me know!)

So then! Today, I have (ahem) "graced" the @freewritehouse with my presence in exchange for a prompt for my post. (But do check out its resteemed posts of freewrites -- I'm just so amazed by what other people can write out there!)

The idea of a prompt... .

The freewrite prompt reminds me of Toastmasters. If you've ever attended a Toastmasters meeting before, you would know that they have one session devoted to volunteers doing a spoken version of a freewrite! (Sound interesting?)

They give you a question for a prompt, and you just start your verbal freewrite! After that, they will judge you by a set of criteria! :O :O :O

Haha, I'm kidding!

They'll "encouragingly" tell you what you did well, and what you could do to refine your speech :)

The idea of being impromptu

Oh, so, yeah. I ..... thought that freewriting was like Toastmasters, in that you could learn to speak type on your feet! That you could do impromptu speeches writing.

Oh yeah, speaking of "impromptu" --

In line with the freewrite prompt, "Core Values", I feel that one of my core values goes along the lines of constantly improving myself! I took up Toastmasters to get out of my comfort zone and improve my communication and leadership skills.

And from Toastmasters...

The Toastmasters' impromptu speeches did help until it was time to move to the next level: Prepared Speeches. That's where everything stopped progressing for me.

The prepared speech sessions were a killer for me! I think I began to get verbal "writer's block"! I kept overthinking myself and I never could get any progress with crafting my speech.

I tried typing it down -- and I got stuck.
I tried to speak it out into a video -- and I got stuck.
I tried to wing it, unprepared, for my "prepared" speech -- and I got stuck, and with a big embarrassing failure!

Now what??

So... it seemed that the Toastmasters platform was no longer working for me, no matter how much assistance I got from everyone else around.

But if there's one thing you should know about me. I never give up. Even when I keep switching between different tasks and platforms! Coz here I am again! Now starting again to get closer to my communication goals with freewriting. Even if it's not authentically a freewrite, I'll do whatever it takes (ethically!) to make it work.

Perhaps that's my core value.
