Rebut to this Egyptian lady

in writing •  7 years ago

I worked in Saudi Arabia for 18 years so I had observed and heard Egyptians write and speak da English. I pity and at the same time abhor this Egyptian lady celebrity coz she had the nerve to bash those OFWs manner of speaking the language, not knowing that among us pinoys in Saudi – and I’m sure it is the same in other middle eastern countries wherein pinoys worked and mingle with the Egyptians- they are the butt of jokes concerning how they – the Egyptians speak and write da English! Yes that’s the way they weave their grammar. That is, this bunch of arrogants would say: I know how to speak DA ENGLISH!

I could recall an instance that we have made fun of an Egyptians manner of speaking da English. It goes this way; one morning a generator set which is quite heavy arrived on our jobsite. Since the forklift by that time is out of order, we had to move the said equipment to its place manually.

The mohandes – engineer utters out his command for us to move the genset inside the building in this manner of da English speak:

“Hallooo. I need ten bibol here – it is their manner by the way of pronouncing the letter P they use B instead of P in any word with a letter P. so people becomes BIBOL as in Pepsi is spoken as BEBSI and Pinoy becomes BINOY..- sa pag papatuloy, sabi niya:

“I need ten bibol here. This one too much heavy. Thaalatha bibol here, thalatha bibol hena, two bibol here two bibol hena, baden alathul gidah” ….

Sabi ng katabi kong bikolano: SA BURAY NI INA NYANG E ENGLISUN YAN! – translate as sonofabitch way of speaking English! Hahaha..

By the way the Egyptian ENJENYER yes that’s the way they write their positions engineer- ENJENYERs- command was:
I need ten workers/persons here because this one is quite heavy. Three persons on that side, three persons here, two persons here and there then carry it all the way inside there!

“I need ten bibol here. This one too much heavy. Thaalatha bibol here, thalatha bibol hena, two bibol here two bibol hena, baden alathul gidah” …. Hahaha ang layoo Ptanginangyan!

And may I add, there was a time in our company – Saad Industrial Facilities- that the management had purged close to a hundred Egyptians ENJENYERS because it is found out that their college certificates were bugus ones.. hahaha.. it seems meron din sa kanilang recto/raon certificates factory.

Its not to bash them the way this lady does, but one can observe that even an Egyptian claims to have a college education they generally speak da English in a mix mash of Arabic and English that in the middle east foreigners would have to maximize their level of understanding to communicate with the Egyptians.
