The Life Of A Writer

Hard at work!

Many know me by my profile picture, hard at work tirelessly grinding out the day's offerings of stories and articles, as best as my meager abilities allow... sitting at my computer, hour after hour. Here I am in my usual milieu, diligently pounding on the keys.

Robert Heinlein once wrote something to the effect that writing is a dirty business to be done alone, late at night when there's nobody else around... and always, always wash your hands when you've finished. I generally get up at around 3:00 AM, get my coffee, have a smoke; then put Charlie Chan on YouTube, grab my pen and notebook and go to work- my morning ritual.

I know what people think- long hours of hard work and isolation have their drawbacks... But there are rewards as well... Here I am on my recent vacation to Tahiti with one of the lovely local girls...

It's similar to my dad. He is an architect and there are nights when he works until 5AM because that way there are no distractions.
Keep doing what you do, everybody here loves your stories!

Thank you, that means a lot! I'll go as long as there's breath in my body and somebody reading my stuff!

I often sleep in the morning and late afternoon and spend the whole night and morning up as I want to use much of the quiet hours working on steemit.
No chance having a girl tho.

That's what I do... Get up have my coffee and start writing. I use a book then I edit and type it in on Steemit. Girls are overrated... I never accomplished anything until I was shed of them. Whenever I had a girl I focused on that instead of writing... They're like vampires- they suck the creative juices out of you!

You wake up at 3AM?!?!?! The best I can manage is 8... even that's a stretch for me.

Wait until you're old!

Heh...

I've always loved Bukowski's view of the writer life.
Looking good, man! On the beach myself....oh the struggle!

People keep telling me about Bukowski... Now I have to look him up.

Oh you must ;) he really was a kickass writer, in my opinion.

I read a short bio... He sounds a lot like me!

Do you know I think of you as a sort of Bukowski? I have ever since I started reading you!

That's me... The poor man's William Faulkner lol! I watched a 5 part documentary about him, we do have much in common!

So I was right. What documentary?

This should take you to the other videos in order.

So handsome!

Chicks dig me... what can I say!

Love that photo! Keep writing so's I have somethin' worth readin' ;)

I don't think I could stop if I wanted to!

Thanks for sharing... Love it.

You are looking sexy brother ;)

Thanks! I feel sexy, I just hope she feels the same way... I'd really like to get my swerve on!!!

It looks like she is deeply imagining your sexy body all over her average body xD

Ah thank you!

Looks a great vacation to Tahiti, but you hairs looks so strange to stay on the beach :D

Well, look at the bright side... I won't get a sunburn!

I can understand you :D

Thank you my dear Silvia! This morning when I went to the donut shop just when it was getting light, I saw something in the road. I thought it was a cat so I slowed down thinking it would move... It was a bunny and he wasn't going anywhere. I sat and waited for it to move but he wasn't budging... Finally I had to get out of the car and shoo him away!

Such a story! :D Maybe the bunny would stay with you ^_^

Who knows... All the animals in my neighborhood seem to eat well (for some reason)

I wake up really early @richq11 in hopes of getting some writing done before work people think I am mad but if I do ever make some decent money on here will they still think I am insane probably not. As for perks I see what you mean shes a cutie but way too distracting for me to get my work done.

That's Dorothy Lamour, famous from the Road movies with Bob Hope and Bing Crosby.

Up at 3.00 AM! I don't think I could do it. But I guess you experience a lot of peace at the beginning of your day, when the rest of the world (almost) is still asleep.

I go to bed at around 6:00 or 7:00... Then at 6:30 AM I make my run to the donut shop!

You know how to get the beautiful ones. Looking good :)

It's the hair... Chicks dig it!!!

The hair's cute. No doubt about that <3

Nice post ..funny
Thank you
@keval
See my post .. if you like vote me

LOL.... is that a pose or the girl is sad :(

I often revert to longhand when I get stuck on something. I just love the physical activity of writing. Especially with a fountain pen, if available.

But as for getting up at 3 AM... you can have that to yourself!

I've been buying gel pens that look like the old fountain pens and write much the same (2 for $1.00) I believe in going all out- no expenses spared when it comes to my writing. Walmart has notebooks 4 for $1.00 and I go through a notebook a week and a couple of pens.

The 3 AM I've really come to enjoy- the house is quiet and dark and I get my coffee- turn on charlie Chan and go to work. I usually have quite a bit dome by the time the donut shop up the street opens lol!

You know, that sounds like a wonderful morning, actually.

Gel pens are a lot less fuss than fountain pens, that's for sure.

And these have those same plastic ink inserts like the old fountain pens you could buy.

You should see my knuckle... There's a big knot on it- I call it my "writers knot" I guess it's RA It hurts like hell, but it's the only way I can write dialogue. I can write nonfiction on the computer fine, but when I write fiction I have to do it that way or my conversations come out stiff and sound unnatural.
