Hi Steemians!.
I hope you all enjoyed reading the first episode of my autobiography.
This episode talks about the early stage of my career as an athlete (swimmer). So please enjoy reading.
I started competing amongst other local swimmers who fell within my age group. It was quite a nice experience always leading in all ny races. It gave me so much self confidence and recognition. At that point , swimmimg was still merely just a way of catching fun and hanging out with news kids i just met in the team. I never had any national competition in my mind talk more of the Olympic games.
I started travelling to many states within Nigeria which was actually a big deal for a 12 year old. I met coaches, elite swimmers and was paid for every trip and competition I went for. At first my parents werent too cool with the idea of travelling since I was still in school and also because of my safety. But i guess they later realized that the more i left the house, the more extra money they got from my allowance paid by the state.
Soon, I was a full swimmer who represented my state in junior competitions. I was quite outstanding and always made other athletes so scared of racing with me. I would always shout "The gold is mine" before any race and then look at the other kids with a fierce unfriendly look on my face. I would hit my chest and make some gestures just to intimidate the other athletes and reduce their morale..lol..I was that competitve.
They all always pay off as I went back home with medals, gifts and cash prizes. Then i knew i was born for this because as at then, i didnt know about any job that would pay me that much for something i loved doing and had so much passion for.
