Desperate, devastated, discriminated and desolate. Those were the four words that described her and her current situation. She had dreams for the future but never for once did she think she’ll be where she was now. Just one night of a terrible mistake made all her plans and world crashing down on her. She was once affluent, an epitome of beauty, every man’s desire which had become utter disgust as she obviously bore evidence of her formidable sin [which had refused to stay hidden] right in front of her.

She had been casted out of her home, as her family had refused to have part of the humiliation. Maybe things would have played out differently if her parents were still alive but now she had to face her cruel reality. With nowhere to go, she couldn’t help the depression that was eating her up as the cold gnawed deeper into her skin. Yet, that didn’t stop her from making a promise to herself and her unborn child; that the very people that despised and looked down at her were going to look up to her someday. Although she didn’t know how but she sure had faith in God which was the one thing that kept her going, at least her sweet mama had imbibed something in her that was more useful than all the money her papa used to lavish on her. She needed the money but it was faith that made her manage to wear a smile on her face even when she was broke. Damn, she had a lot of regrets but she had learnt to suppress them so they don’t choke her, there were a lot of things and people to hate but she had no energy for hate rather she focused on staying strong and working hard for her small bundle of hope until God showed up at the other side of the tunnel not that she wouldn’t appreciate it if he showed up somewhere in the middle but she was going to wait on Him whichever way.

Slowly her hands caressed her baby bump, the world may have branded her because of her mistake but deep down in the darkest corner of her heart she knew she’ll get re-branded for the better on account of her little bundle. She still remembered the still small voice in her head that whispered to her the evening before “daughter you’ve been re-branded, you’re mine. Fear not for I’m with you always. I’m here for you”. With her new confidence she hoped that her faith will pull her and her baby through. Oh yes it was her and her baby against the world. “Hold on little one, it’s going to be a rough ride but we’ll pull through. Mama will be right here” she whispered as she walked down the street wearing a pretty smile like she’d won a gold medal. Ignoring eyes that were trying to bore holes into her with questions and critics, she’d gotten acquainted with the looks, she made her way to her makeshift home.
