Blurred People

A lot can change in a very short space of time.

People you haven’t spoken to in what feels like a life time, suddenly appear again like spectres, reminding you of your past. There are those who blend straight back in again as though they’d just come back with the weekly shop. Others, strangers, whose faces once filled every slightly out of focus group photographs are reduced to a background blur; filler between life's events. As to who will place themselves into which category, intentionally or otherwise, is where I find myself this morning.

I know that this is an everyday occurrence, and that as people grow, jobs get in the way, the summer days grow ever shorter - and then the new little'uns need all the time they can steal from the demands of the 9-to-5 trudge. I always thought that it would be those people you meet as you travel through school to university that would be the bit-part players.

But, as life has a habit of showing you, the unexpected becomes the norm.
