Steem Junkies

I first saw them on youtube.

They pop on the screen with stars in their eyes.

This is it! A new way to make tons of cash!

Yeah, I heard that shit before but they were inspired. They look like they had not slept in a week, like speed junkies on a full burn. Digital prospectors on a gold rush except now they were talking about something called Steem.

They had all the answers; do this, do that, power up, what the fuck? That’s what I thought. They were out for the dream. I tuned in day after day and they kept at it with that same inspired madman look.

After a while they look a little different, a little darker around the eyes, a little less inspired and a few of them start talking about powering down.

The whales!
The bots!
The frauds!
Oh my!
It's all fucking greed, they said.

I had seen it before with bitcoin three years ago before MtGox, before the bubble popped. A few got rich but most people lost their asses investing more than they could afford because they were chasing that same dream. It wasn’t about the platform for them, about a new dream to be free from the banking system, it was about one the oldest dreams known to man;

to get rich quick.

I got to admit... I dig the post. I think that as things pan out and steemit grows older we'll see what it truly is. Right now it's just too soon to tell for those of us who aren't in the trading arena or mining steem. That's what I'm here for, I'm curious as hell to see what becomes of it all.

Thanks...yeah it's one big digital experiment. Hopefully it doesn't turn into a bot controlled greed machine. It could be great for content creators in the long run. Who knows.
