Today's post is an excerpt from my writing notebook - a glimpse into a city where aliens are commonplace.
You don't walk around this city calling out "Aliens!". First, its just rude, second, mostly only humans will know what you are talking about, and they'll just write you off as one of those xenophobes that hid in their bunkers until their food ran out, afraid of the future.
Even so, I've seen things that make me pause, just a little.
Had a friend of mine, who loved one of those feeder chicks. I don't know what attracted him to her, maybe it was the improbably thin waist they all have, but he just loved her curves even though she was mostly out for blood. The Feeders size up all their relationships by the quality of your fluids. They use it in their reproductive cycle, and the best stuff is highly prized.
I guess that's how Jeremy got involved with Kazee in the first place.
She saw a fine upstanding reservoir of blood plasma, and he saw a super curvy somewhat humanoid woman with arching cheekbones and dark eyes. The Feeders, I mean Kazee, how they do their trick is, they latch on and hold you and then sink in the hollow teeth to the nape of your neck. Some say it feels a bit tingly as the saliva deadens the pain, but I'm not going to find that out myself.
There's these artificial burster packs you can buy, in the city that has everything, that holds a bit of blood and allows your Feeder lover to engage with you, while not draining every drop of blood out of your body. Jeremy had one of those, wrapped around his neck and hidden with a bit of fleshy-paste at the edges.
You wouldn't know it was there unless you looked really closely.
I'll never forget how I found him that night.
We had a room we were sharing, and I had just come home after a long shift. The light was low, and that suited me fine. I didn't care for too much brightness after dealing with the lighting in the club, bouncing off the dazzle makeup the dancers wore.
Putting down my pack, I moved to the kitchen, to get something to eat.
Its then when I heard it, that dry scritching noise that sounded like someone working a nail into a board. Confused, I turned the light on, and stared slack-jawed at what I saw before me.
Kazee was there, latched to Jeremy, her long inner teeth plunged into his neck, pulsing and moving her body back and forth. The Burster was emptied, a small concave puck of fleshy material. She had pierced it directly into the skin beneath. Must've been the throes of passion, who knows, but she was finishing the job.
Her abdomen was slightly swollen, rising and falling as she feasted on him.
Her eyes locked with mine, a small trickle of blood running down her chin as she pulled back.
"Nooooes.. was mistake.." the translator was stuck under Jeremy's arm, and it buzzed on the table with the overtones.
My mind switched to survival mode.
Ducking down, avoiding her released pincers as she swept the room. I wasn't about to become meal number two, and I've heard Feeders don't like wasting good blood once they get going.
I had a few stunner grenades with me on my belt, which I thankfully hadn't released at the same time as my pack. I ripped two free and let them fly.
A few concussive blasts later I ran out the front door, having enough presence of mind to scoop my pack up on the way out. Nothing in my mind but those bottomless black eyes, her mouth framed with blood, veins pulsing.
Its one of the many reasons why I live alone now.
Gads, effing feeders...

This is very frightening, and I certainly would not like a place with these kind of aliens.

If we aren't alone in the universe, we might have to deal with that kind of future. At least this is just fiction :)
