Humanity....and our de-Evolution

I want to waffle on for a bit and offer a somewhat considered stream of intellectual hogwash in relation to our wayward and worldly decline, our inevitable slope into misery, and of course, our graceless and hopelessly overlooked…de-evolution.

That’s right.

De.

As in delusional. As in a pack of mindless and disconnected, drugged-up dickheads who display a desperate desire to bring forward our extinction, all the while looking like a gathering of dull and diluted dumb asses.

So where to begin?

Well, why not start with what you’re currently holding (and no, I wasn’t being dirty, you perverted and sex-crazed heathen) as I am of course, referring to our cancer-causing and unconquerable addiction, our pixelated and snap-chatting sidekick, something mind you, of which has digitally tunnelled its way into every delicate and sacred fissure of human existence.

Yep.

Our phones.

Before I continue, however, and in a strange and somewhat unsettling contradiction, I need to say that our unrivalled and ever-changing technology counteracts, at least superficially, my twisted and distasteful theory of deteriorating into a pack of de-evolved and photo-taking Neanderthals. Yes. The almost futuristic capabilities of something so small and the human ingenuity and genius required to physically construct something so advanced and eerily powerful, suggests advancement, does it not? It speaks volumes about our intelligence and mathematical ability, our foresight and ingenious methods of closing the international void, but, and as I reposition my approach, it has also increased the rate of which we have so tragically fallen.

“Wait, what are you talking about, Najib? You have things like Snapchat, don’t you? You’re guilty as well.”

Well yes, I am, but I have gone from an infrequent and shameless seflie-sending user, to a concerned and desperately mystified witness of our aforementioned, de-evolution.

In other words, I have helplessly watched the world descend into lunacy.

(And ya’ll fucking crazy.)

To creatively backpedal from my overuse of profanity and insult, I’ll pitch it to you like this: Yes, we have made remarkable inroads when you consider our primal origins, but, here, in the illuminated and toxic present, we have also been electronically removed so far from ourselves and that of others, that we now worryingly speaking into our little, battery-consuming contraptions as if they were the ears of our lovers. As if it were a thing of flesh and blood, magically equipped to handle our increasing desperation, our never-ending search for relevance, and the reactions of an imaginary audience.

(And besides, no one wants to see blaring and unbalanced videos of you in a dingy nightclub or weird and heavily-filtered images of a nameless infant. I mean, come on.)

Think about it.

We’re not fur-covered cavemen and women anymore, senselessly fucking ourselves into oblivion while burning to death a wild boar, but instead, an intelligent pack of digitally distracted, single-minded, cunt nuggets who have figured out more efficient ways...of bringing closer our expiration.

What ever happened to ‘We?’ What ever happened to community. To intellectual integrity and an emotional capacity to actually listen? To work together for the betterment of the bleeding planet? Well, let me perhaps arrogantly tell you, because as well as our soul-removing, selfie-inducing technology and our warped inability to genuinely interact with the world, a vast majority have now become so focused on themselves, so tunnel-visioned and self-interested, that it doesn’t really leave room for anything else.

How can I win?

How can I get my hands on more money and so on and so forth.

Don't get me wrong; motivation is a wonderful energy to channel and as such, is rightly promoted, but it has also been dangerously high jacked by an unsightly narcissism, a damaging superiority complex, and an uneasy thirst for material items and unimportant pursuits. That’s why I say we have de-evolved. We now live in a world full of pill-popping, snap-taking individuals, so mindlessly motivated to amass meaningless fortunes and superficial recognition, that we have forgotten the idea of togetherness. Of being a part of something, much greater than ourselves.

I could go on for hours and list other ways in which we have disappointingly surrendered our very humanity in exchange for a fabricated and hash-tagged version, but I’d rather direct your focus towards a solution.

So…what is it?

Well, I didn't get that far. If anything, I’m just an arrogant writer who knows shit is fucked up out here.

So God help us.
