Social media is the scourge of the age, we are in this constant spiral of expressing ourselves aren't we ? should we stop worrying about this obsession and start worrying about how do develop ourselves into a personal brand.

I derive my idea from the book crush it, by Gary v, Gary always emphasizes on building a brand, not competing but creating quality content, this not only applies to startups but for those individuals who see themselves as entrepreneurs.

how many of you just listened to a tune, song partly and then instantly recognize their product. the very product comes to your mind, you gravitate towards that product, you end up buying that product even if there is a better product at the stall. This comrade is called branding, marketers, and companies shell out millions in ads and branding, they always try to leave a mark in your subconscious.

think coca cola

think oreo, ahhh you get me !

whats wrong if we socialize in this free social media economy, remember as a rule of thumb that any publicity is better than no publicity.

Its dead simple in this mass media generation, thanks to all platforms we have got.Ask your forefathers if you doubt...

but why John has to worry about building a brand

let's assume for some time that you are John, John is hunting for a job, the traditional John would list himself in this hives of job listing sites, expecting a mail ..... ...
fast forward few days john gets nothing .... why?

because we are competing in a rat race, John has approached the seeking job phenomenon with a herd mentality

but what can john do .. . ..

simple, create content, let's say John is looking for a digital marketing job, why does John not think of blogging on medium, collecting leads, staying active and adding value to people around him.

fast forward 10 years , lets say John is on the verge of losing his job , but guess what .... john has enough leads, that he can start his own business, he has a whole community to which he has added value for years that too for free, engaged with them and built their trust and reputation for himself , there should be no doubt that they would buy a course for him, or donate dollars worth amounting to coffee.

ohh common that is nothing new, you may say, then think of Stella

stella is an accountant with 10 years of experience, Stella has served to and talked with several clients, all their needs and wants are at her fingerprints ......

stella could be a badass accountant if she could build her website, add value by either writing blogs about her experience or by making videos of her knowledge.

common the least you could do is just share your experience, nobody is asking you to create a webinar or course. truly just share your emotion.THATS it!

Nice post. Branding and packaging really sell a product. Thanks for sharing your experience. Please upvote me dear.

I think the idea of a personal brand is more important than ever before. It doesn't matter what you're selling, it has to start with you selling yourself. I also think growing in public is becoming more and more essential. people love to see people grow and improve, and feel like they're a part of it.

For business, social media is an incredibly valuable tool, and I still think it's under-valued and misunderstood, after all these years.

I appreciate your thoughts man

I think, yes, we must see ourselves as brands. Because only then you will prepare to establish the brand, to be able to sell it.

yea , it's like once we established ourselves , we have all this followers who look upto us , keep us accountable.
