“What??? Not there? Where is he?”

Greaves screamed into his phone as they raced along I-40 to the Jicarilla reservation.

“Damn!”

“What is it?”

“Our back up is unavailable.”

“Daryl?”

“And his team. Bow hunting polar bear in Alaska.”

“Bow hunting polar bear! In Alaska. In January! Good Lord!” Faro was very impressed.

“That leaves the four of us. And we know there are at least five of them.”

“Well, if we go in quietly, we could get four of them before they even have time to reach for their weapons.”

“And if we don’t go in quietly enough or aren’t quick enough, it’s lights out. It’s the one sure way to make sure the girls are silenced forever before we complete our mission. We have to think about this a little bit more.”

“I thought you said they needed them alive.”

“Not if we go barging in there to rescue them! The living girls could then spill the beans on their captors and start an international manhunt, if not by government authorities, then by our own compatriots at least. No, no. There must be another way. And another thing: can you please push that speedometer needle into the three digit range or do I have to step on your foot?"
