As children we learn of those contrasting voices that speak in our heads, constantly telling us what to do and what not to. In various cases, the soft and tender one is likened to God while the harsh and loud one is likened to Satan. It was a whole great and grave feeling experiencing these conflicts in my young and immature head. The details is given in the piece below.
.
HIS VOICE
The first time I heard him speak
He had not hit me with a stick
It was a soft tender voice
Slowly but unrelentingly guiding me through my choice
.
.
It would have cost me my life
If I had naively not listened
Even though I didn't understand
Until bodies lay still on the ground
.
.
I had a choice though
The voice compelling or that commanding
To choose between a friend or a foe
to follow without complaining
.
.
It was a whole new experience
Learning of a supreme being's existence
It would gradually lead me on
Like on a chess board; a pawn
.
.
If only we would listen
He still gently compels
If only we would hearken
His words; still ever faithful
.
.
