Daily Lesson: Do what you want.

Those gathered at Theleme used their lives, not to abide by laws, rules or statutes, but to execute their will and free will. They rose from the bed when it pleased them, and they drank, they ate, they worked and they slept when they felt desire to do it. No one woke them up, nor forced them to drink, or to eat, or anything.

The only rule of the Order was this:

DO WHAT YOU WANT

And it is reasonable, because free people, well born and well educated, when dealing with honest people, naturally feel the instinct and incentive to flee from vice and invoke virtue. And this is what they call honor.

But when the same people are restrained and constrained, they tend to rebel and to break the yoke that overwhelms them. For we are always inclined to seek the forbidden and to covet what is denied us.

Personal Reasoning

Doing what you want to do does not mean debauchery or idleness necessarily, doing what you want to do is freedom. Free people are those who can have their time to do what they want, what they consider better and nobler. One tends to think that one acts virtuously only if we are forced to act that way, but it is not so, in fact if one is forced to act well, then one is not really virtuous, since to act well, one really has to do it without coercion, that is, voluntarily, and only free men and women can act voluntarily, for that very reason, to act freely, that is, to do what one wants to do, is the only way to become truly virtuous .

Sort Order:

So maybe if you lose freedom within yourself this means you have erred in your own truth and justice within is thrn in turn brought which then one materializes more within ordered society. For example when you get sick if you don't listen your body will execute order when you don't get sick well you have freedom indeed within and without.

This would explain why the decriminalisation of drugs seldom leads to an increase in their usage.
