Time...to spend or not to spend...and on what, really?

Time…time...ticking away...

I’ve yet to read an article or column that advises us so very temporary humans to really, truly, enjoy our lives. Unlike money, or Steem, or any form of currency, time is handed out to us in a pre-determined amount that we just have to deal with, some more or some less. Very much like money, we “spend” our time, and like tangible goods, we “sell” our time.

I’m a 36-years-old entrepreneur & mom, and somehow, in this hectic world where everything needs to be done but hardly anything seems to get done before something else pops up, something as natural as illness seem like time-wasters that hold one down and doesn’t let you run at full speed through daily life. The past week has been a downer, resulting in multiple canceled meetings that would spell progress and profit.

This is what we’re supposed to do right? This is what’s considered productivity. That’s what all of the articles, TED talks, business magazines, YouTube tutorials teach us after all. They teach us to manage our time, to be productive, to get the most work in, but not necessarily the most of living in. If you’re part of a corporation or working for any company, it’s all about how much of your life they can suck out of you, and that’s what makes you successful, if you’re an entrepreneur, its how much of your life you can give up, and that’s what makes you successful.

Has anyone stopped to notice that the minority of our time, whatever is left over from work, is spent on the things that should really truly matter, the things that bring joy, happiness, purpose, and wellbeing? Given the limited amount of time us simple humans have been dealt, does this really seem like the ideal way to “spend” it?

Sure some people love the hectic corporate life and all it entails, but kudos to those who just want to live, to be simple and happy and blissfully write on steemit or mine crypto-currencies while pursuing a multitude of other things in the time they own, “spend” their much-limited time on whatever it is that makes them feel satisfied and accomplished in life.
